Alwynne | 160 comments Good to know about the Elly Griffiths, enjoyed the first one in that series, I mostly read vintage crime but make an exception for Griffiths. And the Helen MacInnes looks great, read one of hers a while ago.

Laurence Giliotti | 29 comments Starting Surfeit of Suspects Surfeit of Suspects by George Bellairs by George Bellairs. Just felt I could use a few moments away from the whirlwind of nonsense and stupidity the misinformed and under-educated continuously spew.

I've started A Certain Justice by P.D. James ready for our challenge read next month - although as it is massively long again I'm sure I will still be reading it at the start of the month!

I finished our forthcoming group read Bats in the Belfry last night - I preferred the others by this author that I've read, but still think it will make for a good discussion.

I finished Troubled Blood and apologize for whining about the 900+ pages. It was excellent and never felt too long. I hope book #6 comes soon.

Shaina | 91 comments Sandy, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I too hope for book 6 soon but that's wishful thinking on my part.

I've finished our next P.D. James, A Certain Justice now, much quicker than I had expected to - I found it hard to put down! Really enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to our discussion.

Piyangie | 129 comments I'm presently reading Devices and Desires by P.D. James. I so want to catch with P.D. James challenge and was planning to read the next two in the series in October. Unfortunately, Scribd has decided to make them unavailable till the 18th of October. So it is a long impatient wait. *sigh*

That's a shame, Piyangie. I would agree with Judy, that I really enjoyed A Certain Justice. This surprised me, as I usually don't like legal crime novels, but I thought it was really good; especially at the beginning. Looking forward to discussing it too.

message 1509: by Piyangie (new)

Piyangie | 129 comments I'm very much interested in A Certain Justice now. 😊 Perhaps, I could skip Original Sin and read that straight or read both simultaneously. I've never read two books in the series at one time, and not sure if it is wise.

That's a pity, Piyangie! To be honest though, I think it would be confusing to read Original Sin and A Certain Justice both at once, as they both have lots of characters and back stories.

Piyangie, I also think I would be confused reading them at the same time. Order is not terribly important in this series however. The team members come and go but there isn't much development (in my opinion, and I'm usually a strictly in order person).

Colin I'm in the middle of Weekend at Thrackley Weekend at Thrackley by Alan Melville by Alan Melville at the moment. It's very light stuff but that kind of suits me as work is quite pressured right now.

Off to the library to pick up my latest requests: The Thursday Murder Club, Gallows Court and The Constant Rabbit. Love new shiny physical books.

Either Thursday or Rabbit. Gallows may be too similar to the Lorac I just read. My boyfriend is also interested in The Constant Rabbit so one of needs to start as we only have it for two weeks.
