Graceling
question
Should I Continue?

After reading the book, I found out the next two books in the series doesn't have any of the main characters from the first book (with the exception of Bitterblue in the third book and King Leck in the second book) which I think kinda defects the purpose. You can tell from my review on this book, that I wanted a different kind of ending. I thought the ending was satisfying but with the main characters not being involved and only mentioned in the next books, should I continue with the trilogy or stick with the ending of the first book?

If you're asking, the answer's probably no.
Life's too short - and filled with too many great books - to read books you don't enjoy.
I personally enjoyed all 3 of the Graceling Realm books. I find that enjoying this series is - like so many other things - a matter of attitude and perspective. Understand that this is not a traditional series, but more like 3 books that take place in the same world. They're connected, but not co-dependent.
But if you're not aching to read the rest of the series, then you're probably better off reading something that you are aching to read.

I read the book a while back and made no plans to continue.
Leck is the only character from Graceling that's in Fire, but Fire as a whole, is almost as good as Graceling, IMO. Graceling has better characters, plot, and action, but Fire is better at world-building and romance. I'm still reading Bitterblue, but there are at least 7 characters from Graceling that are still there, so far, and it looks like they're getting more relevant (25% done).
Graceling Series is a series that is so worth reading, I would read nothing but it if my parents would let me.
You should continue because reading the second and third books explains some of the first book. Also all of these books are awesome.
Read the rest! Everything kinda ties together eventually. I loved every book in the series. X)
I asked myself that same question, then tried to get into the next book for about 30 pages. I wanted to like it. Still, everyone's tastes are different. You may think its awesome, but I set it aside. Maybe if you can choke through book 2 you'll be happy you did. Based on these posts book 3 rocks. :\
Fire is amazing! Even though it does not have Kasta or Poe in it, Fire is an amazing character all her own and her love story is just as great as Kasta's and Poe's!!
I agree that it is the third book, Bitterblue who connects all the 3 books together and gives you all the answers that you have during the first 2.
Although Katsa and Po and many other characters are in Bitterblue, it was first of all difficult for me to keep track on who is who (read the first book 4 years ago) and the strong connection especially with Po and Katsa is lost on me. The are rather annoying me with their fighting and kissing all the time :P
still i like the book because it's a good coming-of-age story.
If you expect the same as in Graceling, I recommend to skip the other 2. read some other books that you enjoy :)

I loved Bitterblue, it was so amazing, Fire is still good and does help with background information for bitterblue, but isn't as good as Gracelling or bitterblue. But definitely read Bitterblue! :)
I thought the first book was a huge waste of time and space (the author could've done so many things right but failed at them, starting with 'how do I create a good female character').
If you like the world or something you might want to go for it. Some people apparently love 'Fire' for the political stuff. If that isn't for you, well...

Omg. I absolutely love these books and how the author tells three different stories and yet they overlap eachother. Definitely read. Bitterblue isn't the weakest, its the book that completes the weaving of the stories.
I agree that you should at least give it a try. Fire was good but Bitterblue is definitely worth the reading time. Katsa, Po and Lady Fire all surface in Bitterblue. Also it was fun to read a book from her perspective since the last you heard from her she was just a scared child.
I didn't really like the next two, they don't really continue the story. They do, however, cover quite a bit of the background of Graceling. I honestly think that it wouldn't have made a difference if I hadn't read the last two.
Yes, you should definitely continue. The second book is not quite as good as the first, but Bitterblue is amazing. Kasta is in Bitterblue, by the way, as is Po.
I loved Fire, it is my favourite book out of the series. Bitterblue in my opinion is the weakest. Graceling was okay.
