I will select ONE task for the date. As long as your book qualifies for that task, it works.

If it qualifies for all the tasks possible for that date, then when you complete it you can claim a scavenger hunt rose in this thread!

MountainKat | 31763 comments Things are just about set and ready to get started on Saturday! Just waiting for a couple more teams to confirm their names and a couple of players to check in.

Please make sure you are all following this thread - this is where the task will be announced for each date. Claiming and confirming of the Speed Dating and Scavenger Hunt Roses will take place here as well. So if it doesn't say you are following this discussion - edit it so you don't miss anything important! 👇🏼

MountainKat | 31763 comments I wanted to make a couple of clarifications in regards to team sizes. We have a few teams with 7 players instead of usual 6. This may make earning the team rose harder, but may also make earning a couple of others easier. All in all, I think it should even out, so there is no adjustment to how roses are earned because of team size.

MountainKat | 31763 comments And another clarification regarding the Scavenger Hunt Rose.

To qualify for this rose, the book must meet all of the qualifications for the tasks for the specific letter. So for the first week:

B is for Big Apple - Read a book set in New York City. This can be from the précis, the GR main book page, tagged or from a list.
B is for Body Art - Read a book with a tattoo on the cover.
B is for Beginning - Read a book that begins a series or trilogy. This needs to be included on the GR listing for the book.
B is for Beach - Read a book with a beach on the cover or a book that is set on an island or beach location. Qualification, other than the cover, can include the precis, the GR main book page, tags or lists. The British Isles, Australia and New Zealand are not eligible islands.

You can see that you are going to need to find the qualifications in the precis, tags, on cover or on the GR main book page or in another way listed above. And don't forget once you make your completion post to come here and claim the rose for that book - claiming is required!

And I will give you all a little heads up for the first date - New York City is primarily on an island, only the Bronx is not. So if your book's precis, main book page, etc. lists the setting as NYC, I will allow it for Beach. The only exclusion to this would be if the Bronx is specifically mentioned, then you would need another qualification for it to work for Beach, though it would still qualify for Big Apple. You're welcome. 😊

I thought I’d got it but the clarification has confused me - my understanding is that there are 4 possible tasks for B. Only one of these tasks will be selected and we read a book that fits that? Your clarification makes it sound like I need a book that covers NYC, a beach, be the first in a series and a tattoo on cover! Or are you saying that because it is set in NYC it can be used for that or beach? Or am I tying my knickers into a knot for no reason?

message 65: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24339 comments Hi Sally - one of the ways to earn an additional rose is for the team to read a book that fit all four categories for the letter. I can’t remember the details but I’ll go back now and see if I can find it (on my phone so can’t see anything! )

message 66: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24339 comments Ok a it’s the Scavenger Hunt rose - a book that fits all the categories for that letter. Go to the sign up thread and it’s the last option for earning a rose 🌹

For B is for Body Art - Read a book with a tattoo on the cover. does the edition I read have to have that, or just an edition. I ask because I have a book that will work for the scavenger hunt rose but the English version does not have tattoos on the cover, the German one does.

FYI the book is tagged "tattoo-hotties" by one person LOL and I did check with the author and the hero does have tattoos :)

Tomorrow, I will announce the task for the first date. Your book will need to fit that task to count for the first date on the multiple ways to earn a rose for your team.

There is a special Scavenger Hunt Rose that can be earned by anyone for each date - that is what I was clarifying. To earn that rose, the book needs to fit all of the date tasks. While there may be many books that qualify to earn this rose, each book can only earn the rose once - for the first person who finishes and claims it.

message 78: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

The tattoo can be on the cover of any edition, I will edit the task to reflect that. Being tagged does not qualify for this task - it must be on the cover.

I am going to use whatever page number the book link shows. I would prefer that everyone use the page number of the edition they read, but there is no way to confirm that. I know there can be a wide variance of page counts, but they only requirement I am making is that an English language edition be used.

Unfortunately, Hazel is right - I was just clarifying how to claim the rose, the date hasn't begun and won't until tomorrow. Books have to be read entirely within the date period - beginning on Saturdays at 6 PM US EST and ending the following Friday at Midnight US EST. Books must be started, completed and posted by end of the date or they do not count. So this book does not count for the date or for the Scavenger Hunt Rose.

I will make it as clear as possible when I announce the task for each date, but it won't say I am clarifying something.

not a problem i had 2 backups that also have to be read.

message 82: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31763 comments Here is one BIG clarification!

NO DATES WILL BEGIN EARLY!!

If there was an extreme situation where neither Karen nor I would be available to announce the date task at the regular time, we would make it clear in advance that there would be an early announcement. I do not foresee this happening. With the Speed Dating Rose, it would not be fair to have the times vary week to week and I will make every attempt to have the announcement made within minutes of the date beginning.

(I seriously have an alarm on my phone and did post from the car in the first round. I am sincere in trying to keep this as fair as possible!)

message 83: by PepperP0t (last edited Jun 21, 2019 03:54PM) (new)

PepperP0t I have a question on 'A'

A is for Always - Read a book with married MCs. Qualification from the title (married, mate, spouse/husband/wife) précis (married, mate, spouse/husband/wife), tags (married, mate, spouse/husband/wife, couple) or list (married or mated).
A is for Accumulate - Read a book from an author with at least 15 distinct works. This info is on the author's page/booklist.
A is for August - Read a book with any edition published in August. Include the edition with link in your qualification.
A is for Adversaries - Read an enemies-to-lovers romance. Qualification can be from the précis, tags or lists.

the first task says married/mated and the last one says enemies to lovers. those two seem exclusive in the same book

Yes, you only need to post completions for this challenge.

The Scavenger Hunt Rose can only be claimed after it has been read.

Yes, for that date it may not be possible to find a book that fits for the Scavenger Hunt Rose. It could happen, but that would be a hard one to find. There may be similar conflicts on other dates as well. The Scavenger Hunt Rose isn't supposed to be easy!

Honestly, I initially thought the first week would be impossible as well until I realized that NYC is primarily on an island and one I hadn't excluded!

message 87: by PepperP0t (last edited Jun 21, 2019 04:22PM) (new)

Hey Amanda, sorry for the delay but I was really torn about this one. I live in SD and I'm 5500' up the mountains so.... 🤷🏻‍♀️

But I know San Diego is mostly considered a beach town, so I will allow it.

The Scavenger Hunt Rose can be earned as many times as a book is found, but only one time per book.

MountainKat | 31763 comments Clarification on Completion Posts!!

When making your completion posts, remember you must include how the book/s qualify. If the task states, for example (and this is just an example!):

A is for Athlete - Read a sports romance, qualification from the title, précis, list or tags.

Saying 'the hero is a runner' or 'MC is an athlete' doesn't qualify the book. Using 'précis states that hero is a football player' or 'tagged sports by 7 people' does qualify the book. Remember also that links are required for lists, tags and different editions.

Also, when using the cover as the qualifier, post the cover image in your completion.

message 98: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31763 comments Are you ready? I'll be posting the first task in just a minute!

message 99: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31763 comments 🌹The Bachelor Team Challenge - Round 2🌹
🌹Theme - Destination Wedding🌹

Date 1 - B

B is for Beach

Read a book with a beach on the cover or a book that is set on an island or beach location. Qualification, other than the cover, can include the title, precis, tags or lists. The British Isles, Australia and New Zealand are not eligible islands.

Remember books must be 90 pages and MPG Romance!!

You have until Friday, June 28 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s).

Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #2 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts!
