MountainKat | 31766 comments If you are posting Scavenger Hunt claims in the Scavenger Hunt thread - make sure you are getting notifications for that thread!!

If there is an error in your post, I will ask for corrections and reposts there and only there!

In you are interested in my shorthand, I'll explain - if there is an asterisk in front of the book, I have asked for a simple correction - something like page number or rating. There will be a message that explains what I am asking be corrected. That book will not count until the correction and repost is made! If the book is not listed at all - there was something bigger missing - an ineligible qualification or not MPG for example. You will find a post explaining the reason in the thread. If you can find an accepted qualification, you will need to repost to claim the book.

IF I ASK FOR A CORRECTION/REPOST AND IT ISN'T MADE AND REPOSTED, THE BOOK WILL NOT COUNT FOR A SCAVENGER HUNT ROSE!! THE CORRECTION/REPOST MUST BE MADE BY SATURDAY 3 PM US EST UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.

Yes.

Becky (fibrobabe) | 1573 comments How about: brewer, vintner, confectioner, fish monger, farmer's market. (I can't think of any romance novels featuring a fish monger, but I'm sure there's one out there somewhere!)

MountainKat | 31766 comments Please make sure everyone on your teams sees this message!!

I feel like we have explained this repeatedly, but I will do it yet again.

We are REQUIRING reposts for all corrections!

We are not singling anyone out, EVERYONE is being held to the same requirements! We are not going back through the team threads to look for corrections - it is incredibly time consuming! I believe Karen and I each spend about 2 hours a day on this challenge, going through every post on every team, not to mention the Scavenger Hunt thread, double that on Fridays and Saturdays. I honestly don't believe asking for a little extra work from the participants to comply with the guidelines clearly set out is asking too much.

THEREFORE, IF WE ASK YOU TO MAKE A CORRECTION/REPOST AND THE CORRECTION AND REPOST IS NOT MADE, THE BOOK WILL NOT COUNT!! THE CORRECTION/REPOST MUST BE MADE BY SATURDAY 3 PM US EST UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED. THERE IS POTENTIAL FOR THE LOSS OF SEVERAL ROSES IF THIS HAPPENS!

MountainKat | 31766 comments Date 5 - E - Tasks: Breakdown of qualifications of possible tasks for Date 5.

Please remember that all tags/lists must qualify IN CONTEXT!! Links MUST be provided.

Don't make more work for yourself than necessary - if the qualifier is in the title or on the cover, use it! You don't have to go searching for tags to make it work. 😊 If the link you use for the book is the same you are using for the page count and edition - say so (see above edition or something similar)! That saves us all some steps. But please double check your links!

You may use separate editions of your Scavenger Hunt books to qualify for the different tasks. Links MUST be provided.

E is for Europe - Read a book set in Europe (Must be on this List of States/Territories of Europe) or featuring a European MC. The countries of the UK - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, are not on the linked list but will be allowed because the UK is on the list. Qualification from the title, précis, tags or list.

The above is your basic guideline. If the setting lists a city, also include the country in your qualification. Don't forget to add when you are getting your qualification - GR main book page, precis, tag or list - we need to know how you know the book qualifies!

E is for Epicurean - Read a book with food on the cover or set in the food industry. Qualification from the title, précis, tags or lists.

If using 'food on the cover', show the cover and list what you are claiming as the qualifier. Drinks will be allowed as 'food' on cover - we've all heard about drinking your dinner! Again, a vampire biting someone will not be acceptable as food for this task. Tags for specific food items are not acceptable. To use 'set in the food industry', the qualification will be in the title, precis, tags or lists. Words that will be allowed are restaurant, bar, nightclub, pub, bistro, diner, cafe, chef, baker, cook, barista, waitress, waiter, server, bartender, caterer, grocer and butcher. Farmer and rancher will be excluded for this task. These MUST be in context - the precis stating that 'they met at the diner' will not be acceptable!

E is for Emotional - Read a book that is tagged with a word that indicates emotion - sad, cry funny...

I don't think there is any way to make an inclusive list for this task. If in doubt, ask. This task does require that the qualification come from tags/shelves, not the title, precis or lists. Links are required! Again, these must be in context, 'so bad, I cried' does not work!

E is for Ear - Read a book with an ear on the cover.

We must be able to see a distinct human ear on the cover to qualify. A partial ear will qualify if the is NO DOUBT that it is an ear on the cover. Simply showing an earring will not work unless the ear is distinctly visible as well.

Winter Jackson (chaoswilder) | 506 comments For emotional would these work...
Humour, Love, Comedy, Curious, Crush, Tearworthy, Sentimental, Broke my heart, Evil, Brooding, Romantic, Swoon/Swoon-worthy, Wanderlust?

and can the tag be in another language for emotional? For example, curieuse (curious) - as long as the translation is stated?

MountainKat | 31766 comments Date 5 - E

E is for Ear

Read a book with an ear on the cover.

We must be able to see a distinct human ear on the cover to qualify. A partial ear will qualify if the is NO DOUBT that it is an ear on the cover. Simply showing an earring will not work unless the ear is distinctly visible as well.

Remember books must be 90 pages and MPG Romance!!

You have until Friday, August 2 @ Midnight US EST to post your completion(s).

Please ensure that your completion post conforms to message #2 of your team thread. If you complete more than one book for the date task, be sure to include that information in your completion post. Remember no discussion in your completion posts! Links are mandatory, if they are missing you will be asked to add them and REPOST.

No to abusive, yes to scared.

message 774: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24339 comments Hi Kat - can we use any edition of the cover for the ear? Or does the cover have to match the edition we are reading?

(I know you cleared the H category for this but wasn't sure it was for every week.)

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments I need a judgement call on this dang ear. It's definitely a human ear, but it only shows like 10% of it.

Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply (Heart of the Wolf, #19) by Terry Spear

message 777: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31766 comments So for 'Emotional', it gets tricky! We want emotions, not judgements about the book - if you can see the distinction.

'Love' works, but 'loved it' does not - the second is more a rating of the book than an emotion.

'tear worthy', 'swoon worthy' and all other 'worthy' comments also fall more on the judgement/rating of the book side, not an emotion. Those are not going to be acceptable.

Where funny, scared, sad and so on indicate emotion, so they work.

It is a hard distinction, and Karen and I spent a good amount of time going over things and looking up the different words/terms already asked. Google and the dictionary are good friends of mine! I just wanted to try to explain a little bit about what we are looking for - I hope it helps!

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments E for Emotional rulings, please!

"instant-love" and "laugh-out-loud."

I'm not sure if the first is more of an "insta-love" marker for the romance or they instantly loved the book.

And "laugh-out-loud" is a phrase that is synonymous with funny, but I don't want to complicate all these rulings!
