Hi everyone! I’m Elaine, and a writer of adult horror, fantasy and the weird. I am an active member of Horror Writers Association. If you attend a horror related event in SoCal, you might find me at HWA booth if not on a panel. My go-to genre is urban gothic and I love an artfully constructed performance of words, so I strive for a more classic style of writing in a modern setting. I just entered the query trenches and am working on my second novel.
Hello, I'm Eve Harms. I write dark fiction—mostly supernatural horror and weird. I've recently been obsessed with demonology and jinnology and am looking forward to learning more about the Kabbalah. I love to read books old and new and wish I could read faster!! So cool that LOHF has a goodreads group, I'm very happy to be here.
Welcome Eve. Those are my kind of subjects but I don’t know much about them either. I’d love to learn more about the Kabbalah!
Hello, i'm new here, i'm Nie, a french librarian in Paris. I was interested joining this group because i'm working on a specific dark/weird/magical realism genre (well working is a big word, so far, i'm just reading thing that fits this genre) and though maybe some of you would have books to rec. Here the list i've made so far : https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1... and here is the description of the list: "The point of this list is to document what seems to be a new genre, written by women, half new weird half magical realism, strong atmosphere, frequently using myths and fairytales to explore the depht of subconsious. The writting might be more or less experimental. These books might also have feminist vibe, exploration of mental illness, dynamic of abuse in relationship, queer characters and questioning of gender.
I think we can trace back this kind of books with Charlotte Perkins Gilman, Virginia Woolf or Christina Rossetti."
Lately, i've found a lot of other books that seems to fit my criterias, that i haven't read but still added, but ofc feel free to add books if you're inspired.
Also, english isn't my firt langage, so i'm sorry for any mistakes/weird french words in my messages
Hi, I'm french too ! I will check your list, it seems interesting ! (maybe I could add some books even I'm not sure to know how doing it)
Hello Ladies! I wasn’t familiar with the GR Book Groups when I first joined, so I didn’t get to introduce myself. I’m Frances, I’m 52yo, and I’m from the Philippines. I discovered horror through film when my uncle brought some Betamax videos of The Exorcist and The Amytiville Horror for himself to watch when he was babysitting for myself and my siblings. I asked to stay up to watch and got hooked. Stephen King was KING in the 80s. I’ve since tried discovering fresh voices. I haven’t met anyone who enjoyed watching or reading horror. Even my dates would cover behind me when we would watch movies and ask me to tell them when the “scary parts” were over. So it is wonderful meeting like-minded people who even READ (most people I know don’t enjoy reading anymore) HORROR (gasp) and are FEMALE (heaven forbid). What are the odds of this? I have felt like an oddity for so long! And at this day and age we now have women writing horror fiction!!! I will have a lot of fun in this group for sure.

Hi! I decided to FINALLY introduce myself here, because I’m actually picking up THE SUN DOWN MOTEL in just a second & I’ve been wanting to join in on a group read here FOR SO LONG.Anywho, hi! I’m Becca (astoldbybex on Twitter & readwithbex on IG)! I love all things spooky, cats & video games.
