Welcome! I just read her book Seed, which I think was her first? I liked it! I've heard people mentioning Brother as being a stand-out of hers but as someone who grew up in Appalachia around far too many of those inbred family cannibal stories I haven't managed to pick it up yet. I think I've just been oversaturated with them, lol. I do really want to read something else by her, though.

I had gotten Brother first but then got The Devil Crept In in a nocturnal reader's box and that ended up being a group read, so I read it first. I didn't care for it though so i'm glad I already had Brother so I could give her a second chance, and loved Brother.
So I hope to check out more of her books. I've seen others that felt the same way I did for The Devil Crept In but love her other books so I think I can chalk it up to it just being that particular one didn't work for me.

No need to be sorry🤗
Hey Char! Cool! We almost have all the HA mods over here! We just need Wendy! Where is Wendy? Lol :-)
Hello everyone! I just joined this group earlier today, because I found out that y'all are going to be reading Ania Ahlborn's "If You See Her." I've been a fan of Ania's for a while and read mostly horror and thrillers. I'm looking forward to discovering new authors in this group.
Hey y'all! I'm Kristy. :) I'm so happy to have found this group so I can discover more LoHF! I stay at home with my 2 kiddos and am starting up a freelance proofreading career so I can make money from home once my boys are in school. My dream job would be to proofread/edit exclusively horror fiction! ;)
Greetings! I'm Christa. I write genre-bending dark fiction (usually some blend of horror, crime, spec fic including a dystopian novella series) and also a children's series about wildlife. ;) I'm slightly more active on Twitter and I'm working through a sky-high TBR pile, but I'm excited that this community exists and look forward to learning and reading more from LOHF!
Hello all! I'm Jen and I own a bookstore called Bucket O'Blood that specializes in horror! I am stoked to be part of the group and share our love of lady horror!
Welcome, Jen! I wish I were in Chicago so I could live at your store :) Unless I drive an hour to Salem, MA I am in a horror desert in NH. I may have to open one of my own but I fear I would be the only customer.

Bucket O' Blood is a great name for a bookstore! I love it!Bark wrote: "Welcome, Jen! I wish I were in Chicago so I could live at your store :) Unless I drive an hour to Salem, MA I am in a horror desert in NH. I may have to open one of my own but I fear I would be the..."
Bark, where in NH are you? I know a horror fan in Newmarket plus my cousins are getting ready to move from VT to NH and are huge horror fans. Should Jen ever want to franchise. ;)
I'm in southern NH, closer to the MA border. Warn them they are moving to a horror desert but we do have a local drive-in that plays a horror duo at least once a season, lol. I have searched high and low for a decent bookstore and am always disappointed. There is a nice one called Toadstool in Peterborough but like all bookstores around here the horror is lumped in with everything else and you need to spend half the day to find one horror book that you don't already own.
You did say one hour from Salem -- sorry I managed to blank on that! I grew up not far from the Seacoast -- my father worked at PNSY when I was a teen and I graduated from UNH-Durham. :) Where I am now is likewise a horror desert, unless you count the Left Behind books. :P (For example, my county library doesn't carry anything by Ania Ahlborn... Mr. K's seems to be stocked primarily with Dean Koontz and Stephen King... though I did find a couple of lesser known books there a few weeks ago.) Interestingly I just met a fellow writer who's an evangelical Christian, but loves horror fiction even though it's "frowned upon" -- I'll see if I can find her on GR and invite her here!
Hey folks, I'm very late to the introductions thread. I'm Noelle, more commonly known as The Corpse Bride. I love to read and watch horror and have a horror blog. I write scary short stories and I'm working on my own first novel, a supernatural YA novel about a girl who moves to Spike Island, off the coast of Ireland and discovers she has dark, magical powers. I recently finished Teeth in the Mist by Dawn Kurtagich and Perfectly Preventable Deaths by Deirdre Sullivan - both YA, dark and witchy. They are amazing
I’m Angel and I read, write and love everything about horror. What an awesome group! I’m looking forward to discovering more ladies in horror.

Thanks so much, Marie, Latasha and Bark! I’m delighted to be here and will do my very best to be an active member.
Hi everyone, I'm Janie, and I love everything horror and strange. This looks like a great group - thank you for the invite, Angel!
Hello to all, I'm Elke from Germany and love to read horror books. Thanks for the invitation Marie! It came the same moment my latest LOHF books arrived - two titles by Tamara Thorne I did not read yet.
