Please join us for our read of Heroes Die this month.

Hopefully, I will be able to post discussion questions later on this month.

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments Just checked to see I audible had it. They do and I had to laugh at the first review. Too gruesome . Graphic language and graphic violence. Sounds like Joe Abercrombie style. Instead of turning me off I found myself in intrigued. Probably end up joining this once I finish a couple other reads.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just started reading it yesterday. Pretty good so far, although I don't quite understand the world yet. I have it shelved as both SF & fantasy at the moment.

Larry Seeley (lfseeley) | 82 comments I'm with Jim. Might turn out to be a good book, but I don't know yet.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) At 13%, about page 70 in the 545 page paperback, the world is finally explained. I like the way this was drawn out. Not much explanation is needed due to all the clues & it wraps them all together nicely. It also makes a really interesting statement about the society.
If you've read up to about page 150 or so, this isn't a (view spoiler) It's not much of one, anyway.

I'm quite enjoying this.

I read this one some time ago and while to call it gritty, dark and at times vulgar is like saying the Sahara is a little dry I was surprised at how good the book itself is "as a novel".

The idea behind the book touches on or has been touched on in several books but I'm not aware of another novel where the actual plot line is used. It drew me in and I read the entire series...but this is the (in my opinion) the best of them for "pure story telling".

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments This is kind of a blend of redshirts, ready player one, total recall and the running man with fantasy characters I guess I'd explain it to someone if I had to. I'm not real far into it yet 10-15% but that's my take on things

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments If this had been written inaround 1990 this so would have been made into a Schwarzenegger film

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Heroes Die by Matthew Woodring Stover was a very good blend of SF & fantasy. While the elements are all tried & true, it was fairly unique. I gave it 4 stars:

I agree, Travis. It would have been good Arnie film.

Travis (travistousant) | 362 comments I finished a few days back but haven't made my mind up on a review. I'm thinking 4 stars I just wish I'd gone with physical copy. Really didn't enjoy the audio which obviously took away from the book for me.

I've got both. The audio(s) have their drawbacks but I got used to them.
