Usagi77777772003 | 2 comments Wondering if anyone has suggestions for a well-written (can't stand bad/sub-par writing) series featuring a rich villainous hero who's obsessed with the heroine, can't live without her, and would never cheat? He can be ruthless, cruel or even evil, but needs the heroine like he needs air and won't be able to function without her. Basically, the heroine is his only weakness and he can't ever let her go.

IMO, the two authors who are the best at writing series that fit this thread are Anna Zaires (Twist me, Tormentor Mine, and Krinar series) and Jay Marie (Stronger series). Both write beautifully (smooth prose) and their books feature my favorite kind of "hero": Sleek, deadly, panther-like, intellectual hotties (master chess player, puppet-master, etc). who'll stop at nothing to keep their heroine and can never push her away or let her go. Their obsession's to the point where I'm convinced they truly can't be without their heroines.

Anna Zaires is one of my favorite authors: Not only does she write the hottest villainous heroes, her prose is beautiful, and her books are plot heavy (very intense and sucks me in easily). I love her writing and the dark themes; I really can't think of a single author who writes as well as she does and happens to feature dark non-cheating heroes who are crazily obsessed with their heroines.

Even though Jay Marie's "hero" tends to be too cruel to the heroine, he truly won't be able to live without her and is completely obsessed, so he fit this criteria too. Plus, her writing is flawless and thoroughly engrossed me.

I also recently finished the Blue Eyed Monsters duology by Ginger Talbot and really enjoyed it, especially the first book, since it was all about the developing relationship between the leads. Their captive/captor relationship was fascinating to watch at all stages and I loved the end result: Him unable to live without her and appreciating her intrinsic qualities (no longer wanting to break her and turn her into a mindless toy) and her developing nerves of steel and a mean survivalist streak. The writing was also good/smooth and hooked me from beginning to end...

Now my question is, are there any more dark romance authors who write well and feature this kind of villainous hero (powerful/rich, doesn't cheat, can't live without the heroine, and will never let her go)? Thanks so much in advance!

P.S. -I already read the popular Consequence series by Aleatha Romig and although the writing is amazing and the anti-hero very charismatic/twisted, he wasn't obsessive enough and didn't give me the feeling that he wouldn't be able to live without the heroine and needed her like air. He also did something unforgivable to the her at the end of the first book and didn't even take the initiative to fix it until the heroine forced his hand. If he was more obsessively in love, he definitely would have acted on his own accord much sooner. So IMO, he didn't love the heroine enough.
