Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Any ideas, PIs? Should everyone throw in a suggestion or two (or three!!!) from their TBR pile? :-)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments UMMMM pile? You mean my TBR skyscraper???

message 3: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I really want to read this one. I love the cover and great setting.
A Dream of Death (Kate Hamilton Mysteries #1) by Connie Berry
It's pretty new so if everyone can't find it this month maybe put on the back burner for when it becomes easier to get a hold of.

Have any of you ever read any of Diane Mott Davidson's books? I read some of the earlier ones, but none recently. I went to a used book sale and got three of them: The Last Suppers, Killer Pancake and The Grilling Season. Her detective, Goldy, is a caterer, so there is a lot of talk about food. Also, I got an Agatha Raisin. AR and the Haunted House. Anyone interested in any of those?

message 5: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Those are with Goldilocks catering right? I’ve read all of those. I don’t think I’ve read the Haunted House book

message 6: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I've read a few of the Goldy books but it's been awhile. I haven't read the AR book. I'm up for anything. Has anyone read/do you like the Ellie Haskell books by Dorothy Cannell?

Read all of those noted, Pghfan, but wouldn't mind revisiting.

Oops, posted my three under earlier June thread. No more for my noms. I'll go along with majority. :-)

A recently released Agatha Raisin? Forget what # they're on? 29...30?

Found another one: The Heiress of Linn Hagh (Detective Lavender Mysteries, #1) by Karen Charlton 1800's mystery.

I'll cancel theatre Rex Graves as we just read similar backdrop.

Or any of the ones you PI's noted.

message 10: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Okay, how about everyone choose one to two books and we'll vote? Does that work?

message 11: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
Cast my final vote: The Heiress of Linn Hagh is a detective novel that has a gothic feel or A Dream of Death, both books are #1 in their series.

message 12: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments Tina, can you post the link for the second book?

message 13: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments I'll vote for A Dream of Death since I can get that from my library. I did find another good one but it just came out in early May so maybe in a few months it will be more readily available.

Yikes! Both titles sound good!

message 16: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I vote for Agatha Raisin and the Haunted House. We're gonna have a mess this month, PIs, lol. But I did like the Rex Graves that we read, Tina, so I wouldn't be opposed to another of those. Methinks this is going to be a hard month to choose, lol.

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Wasn't the Haunted House an Agatha Raisin episode?

message 18: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I don’t think so....

NicoleG wrote: "Wasn't the Haunted House an Agatha Raisin episode?"

I'm pretty sure there was a Haunted House mystery in the Raisin series.

Not to muddy waters...maybe to make things more clear, I sleuthed out the two earlier top picks and one was sort of expensive where the other was a free borrow pick on Kindle. It was also available for less than 2.00 via same source.

I'll have to go with cheap, cheap, cheap this month as I'll have lots of biz to care for in June.

message 20: by Tina (new)

Tina (tinacz) | 6103 comments Mod
I'd be okay with a Raisin mystery if they are available in cheap this month. lol

message 21: by PugMom (new)

PugMom (nicoleg76) | 2014 comments Your library doesn’t stock newer books, Tina?

message 22: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I can honestly read anything.

I agree this would will be difficult, with so many choices each time. My number one vote would be for the Agatha Raisin, Haunted House. However, if something else is chosen and it is available from the library, I would be OK with that.

I rarely go to the library, NicoleG. Not a snob, just lately I don't have time. But don't let me get in way of a fine discussion. Majority picks and that is fair. I'll work with that.

I'm lucky that we have a large library system and I can request any book from any of them on-line, and have it delivered to my local library, which is literally about 2 blocks from my house!

Indeed you are, Pghfan. Walk to the library...how awesome is that?!

Go ahead, gang, feel free to pick. I'll go with Haunted House - Raisin or Heiress of Linn.

message 28: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I really just started using the library again a couple of years ago after a very long break, and I'm lucky that I have two library systems to choose from plus I have access to all the other counties in my state (Maryland) through the inter library loan system. Tina, do you have access to Hoopla/Overdrive where an ebook might be available for loan?

message 29: by Mark Pghfan (new)

If we choose the Agatha Raisin, I will offer to host the discussion.

I haven't checked Hoopla or Overdrive as I never heard of them but will. Thanks for the 411, Nicole.

I read that Agatha Raisin a while ago and recall bits but wouldn't mind re-visiting it. Anyone else?

Nicole (nicolevickers) | 1814 comments I’m going to audio this one so when we start if you tell me what the first section will be I’ll be ever so grateful! 😀

It looks like Agatha Raisin is the choice. Let's look to start June 1st, Saturday. Chapter one through four looks like a third of the way through, so that will be our first section. Then five through eight, and finally nine to the end.

I'll be ready. Happy Summer Month, PI's. Wow. Seems like last week I was putting away Christmas decorations. Time is going by too fast!
