ABANDONED. Story of a hero who travels to Alaska in gold rush and his adventures there. Romantic.

A guy with some friends or relatives travels to Alaska by boat and boat crashed and many people died. After arrival in some town, I think Dawson, he and his friends start to look for proper place to search for gold. I think before they reached destination they made some stops in other towns. After arrival they buy dogs.

Hero meets local Indian woman who fell in love with him, but he has his other love interest/girlfriend.

Some boy took a dog and ran away to mountains with forests. Team for search is made from few men including book hero and Indian woman. They start to search and they find one of them (can't remember that was the boy or the dog, but I think they found boy). Hero is going to search the dog and Indian woman keeps him company. Finally they get lost and food is going down and they both start to starve. He collapsed and she remained concious. She managed to put last food into his mouth that he could stay alive. Then she dies and he gets stronger.

Can't remember how he got back, what happened with the dog and how that book ended.

I read this book about 15 years ago. Book was old.
