NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11071 comments I've been looking for some books that are both retellings and creepy. So far I thing these two might fit: Once Upon a River, and The Bear and The Nightingale.

If retellings wins, I want to focus on mythology, perhaps Cupid and Psyche?

I have yet to read anything by Sarah Maas - she dominated the retellings list. Her books seem to be doing very well, but are they good for mature readers?

Jen (jentrewren) | 1114 comments I would have voted for creepy but as a newbie will have to wait till next month. (Hmm think I will be travelling when that happens and the month after so will just have to hope everyone picks well.)
I also have several retellings on my TBR but none in my 36. Can't think of a single military right now though.

Hi Jen,

You are allowed to vote even if you are new. You may only cast one point, but everyone gets a single free participation point to use for the vote each month.

I tried MaasThrone of Glass and gave it a generous 3 stars-I really do not think she is for you, Nancy. Others love her so this is only my opinion. I do not know how to link to my review-but you can find it on my shelf by searching for this book.

LOL-I am doing the same, as I am gone all week-end and never take electronics with me when we camp-I will have my phone, but the Android App and GR"s do not get a long.

Thanks Joanne, that was a useful review. Every once in a while I enjoy something like that, if I'm in the mood for it. But I seem to be going a little sour on royalty, real and imagined. Isn't there a name for a character that every man likes? Mary Sue or something like that.

I wonder if Anita is doing that right now with the poll results, wondering if any more votes will be coming in before noon.

That's great Nicole. Those are the ones that matter the most to me right now. I'm hoping to get my planning and library requests done today. Hubby will be back from a trip soon, and we have a family birthday, so I'm going to try to stay off the computer this weekend.

I have the Android Goodreads app too. My biggest problem is not having the comment box on some threads, but if your notifications are set up like mine you should see the announcement. (hopefully) But... I just realized that won't matter if you are already gone without the books :(

I know I can always depend on you, Nicole 😘

This is most definitely my life one day every month starting at 9 am - even though I know nothing will be posted until noon.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that crazy lol :)

Hopefully your library is open later than that! I tend to swing by at the end of the day on the day everything is announced.

There's nothing better than having a neat, tidy stack of books on your bedside table that will get you through the upcoming month. :)
