The Perks Of Being A Book Addict discussion
Captains Team: A Team Has No Name
Hi Team!First name that comes to mind is:
A team has no name.
in honor of Arya :)
Any other Game of Thrones fans out there wishing they had taken more time resolving everything?
I watched the first season of GoT and really liked it but thought I would wait until it finished before I watched it. I admit I was also hoping that the next book/s would come out.
So, our goal is to complete as many of the tabs in our team spreadsheet as possible in the 3 weeks, correct? If so, do we have a plan or just read as much as possible?
Well, I think we need to decide which stream path we’re going to do first. When that’s done, we pick another path.We did A2-A2a-A2ab - it had a couple tricky tasks - book who’s first word starts with an H is one - but was ok otherwise. I liked that a group of tasks were page ranges - opened up flexibility as we read.
I’m up for whatever you guys want to start with.
Also, thanks for the fun team name graphic, Pixie! :D
If we are going to try to do all the streams, we could just start at the first and go through them....but I'm good with any path first/plan!
I only read @ 3 books a week, so, as the slowest reader on the team, I’ll defer to however you all want to do it :)
I’m good with whatever we decide. I found a book in my collection that the first word starts with “h” when we had that task. I wasn’t wild about reading it but I am trying to clean my physical book shelf so maybe this is the motivation to do so.
I pretty flexible too. I will read anything for a challenge. I am not really reading too much right now. I just don't want to be burnt out before the challenge starts. Once Monday comes, I will do 2-5 books a day, depending on length and how many audios I can squeeze in.
I will start looking for books later today and see what I books I get off of KU, my library and scribd. I really hope Team Rizzoli read a lot of quick reads and shorter books.
I just read over the rules and was looking at the ss and I’m wondering if we need to complete the initial tasks for A or B every time we go down that stream. It seems like we do. That is a lot of books with “h” as the starting letter of the text.
If everyone can read The Sins of Lord Lockwood that's four tasks without having to go hunting right away. Unfortunately there is no audio. I did find it on scribd. The other hard one I would think is read a book with a police car, officer, or station on the cover if we have to complete the initial tasks each time.
If we have to complete the initial tasks each time I might like to mix things up and do some of B as well so we aren’t searching for those initial tasks every time.
How about if we pick an A stream to start, perhaps:A2-A2a-A2aa
or
A2-A2b-A2bb
then move to a B stream once that's done?
As we can't do the same stream twice, we could save the tougher ones to the end.
I didn’t think at first we would need to redo tasks above to get to lower tasks but since that isn’t how it looks and there are I think 460 tasks we will have to pick carefully.
If there’s that many I would prefer doing the easy ones first. I like A2 A2a A2aa better, but can do either one.
I am looking at books to see what I am going to read tomorrow. I will adjust my reading if someone else is going to read for a task. This is going off of the A2 - A2a - A2aa stream1A* read a book with a phone on the cover A Study in Charlotte Teddie read for this task 26 Apr
3A* read a book with phone, telephone, call, or police in the title The Call of the Wild Teddie read for this task on 21 Apr
6A* read a book where the title starts with A Alejandra read Angels' Blood20 Feb
7A* read a book with an author name (first or last) starts with T Once Upon a Winter's Eve Tessa Dare Laurla read 2 Feb
Two of the books I plan to listen/read tomorrow are very short, so I might be able to start another book tomorrow evening.
Hey, I'm confused....Why the reference to someone else you read it before? We don't need to read something that was read by another team do we?
I thought the name "Jane Rizzoli" was to use with tasks that specified teams; like this one - Connect a book to book #1 in the series of your team name
Ora wrote: "I might be confused then. I thought we could only use the books Team Rizzoli read"I think the team name is only for team name specific tasks. B stream has quite a few of them.
I'm going to be starting
tomorrow. I'm not sure where it will fit at this point but shouldn't be a problem.
I am pretty sure we can read anything that fits what ever stream we are doing. I agree that the only thing Team Rizzoli pertains to are the tasks that reference series or books the team read during the challenge.Let’s just start with: A2 - A2a - A2aa
I can start with:
2A* read a book with a police car, officer, or station on the cover
with Naked in Death.
I’ll claim it on the spreadsheet. Do you want me to start a tracking post, or do you want to just use the ss to track?
I can read Wayward for this stream, then The Last Town for our next one, for the H task.Looks like Wayward will hit tasks 18 & 25 ... I put it against 25 for now. Also added a “Also works for” column on the right, so we can post all the tasks the book will hit, just in case we need to move a few around.

Yes, that's right
Completion PostTask: 3A* read a book with phone, telephone, call, or police in the title
Book: The Call of the Wild
Author: Jack London
Date Read: May 20
How it fits: Call in title
Task: 7A* read a book with an author name (first or last) starts with T
Book: Lord Dashwood Missed Out
Author: Tessa Dare
Date Read: May 20
How it fits: Author's first name starts with T
I am looking at what I will be starting tomorrow. Is anyone starting a book over 450 pages? I have been wanting to read King of Scars 527 pages. I will start that tomorrow if no one else wants that task.
I am going to be reading these books this week:The Woman in the Window - 449 pages - First word is Her - Author A.J. Finn - H A T in title
An Urchin of Means - A title - 258 pages - MC Ringo Devereux
Vision in White - 324 or 353 pages - MCs Mackenzie, Carter, Laurel
Wildfire - 400 pages - Author Ilona Andrews - MCs Connor Rogan, Linus Duncan - I guess you can call the man on cover sexy - and I'm sure there will be a passionate love scene.
May read more, but that's what I know for sure right now.
You haven't read Wildfire yet?! Yes there will be a passionate love scene. Yes, Connor is sexy...and the model too.
Ora wrote: "You haven't read Wildfire yet?! Yes there will be a passionate love scene. Yes, Connor is sexy...and the model too."Conner is definitely sexy!! The model on the cover is questionable to me...LOL!
I will put Wildfire on the love scene task for now. We can move it if someone else has a book that only fits there.
Wildfire is great fun! I don't know what it is about Ilona Andrews covers tho - I tend to ignore all non-Kate covers (easy to do when reading ebooks) as they fall so heavily into cheese. And I'm glad Curran has only been a lion on the covers - I know EXACTLY what he looks like :D
As far sexy man on covers just about all of Lauren Blakely covers have sexy men showing off their abs.
