Nanci | 1864 comments Yes to head on cover, black hair and purple cover. Good finds!

message 52: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I think this one should work for "very dark cover" task. It's 73% black on tineye. Agree?

I Know Who You Are by Alice Feeney

message 53: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Thanks Judith - and yes Nanci and Alison let me know what you think. I'll pencil them in those spots for now, but I'm more than happy to more them if there is any doubt.

message 54: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments Nanci, I’d say that’s a very dark cover

message 55: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 1050 comments I would say yes to all.

message 56: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments That looks dark to me too!

message 57: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ok. I'll keep that book on the SS as "very dark cover" task. Thanks!

message 58: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments We still need to claim the letters G, R, C, W, A, Y for the spell out, right? I'm going to start looking for some short books that will work.

message 59: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I found a few audio books that I will listen to for letters W and A.

message 60: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Nice - that's great! I have some short books I need to read - I'll take a look this morning and see where they fit. I tried to use a character name for clue (oops) and then forgot I could use them here :)

message 61: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments So you're playing Clue too, Suzanne? I am sooo lost in that game! I never played in real life and I have no idea how the strategy works. l just read whatever my team tells me to read! lol

message 62: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I’m playing too. Basically you use guesses to figure out which cards no one has.

So it’s important to pay attention to the other teams’ guessing and who passes on what combination.

When you first guess you just kinda wing it, strategy matters more a few rounds in once you have some team cards figured out.

message 63: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Thanks for the mini tutorial on Clue Judith!

I understand your first sentence and I understand the dice combinations. I think the Snoop word gives you an extra guess and you can use it once per week after it's completed, right?

I don't understand the "Guess Card" SS page columns C, D, and F.
"The Other Team Guesses" SS totally confuses me!
I feel bad not helping more with the strategy, but I'm just too unsure to offer any advice.

message 64: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I think my team is using a different tracking sheet. I used one from a previous game because my sheets are named something else so I can't really help there.

The Snoop sort of is an extra guess since you get to ask a specific team a specific question. But you can't present them with a full second guess (that has the 3 cards). And only your team knows what was asked in the Snoop. Other teams will know you used a Snoop but not the question or answer.

And you can use the Snoop right away or stockpile them for later.

message 65: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Now I understand the Snoop! Thanks, Judith!
The SS you made for UNO was the best I've ever seen and made so much sense. If I play Clue next year, I'm going to request your team, so I'll understand the SS. lol

message 66: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments Aww! Thanks Nanci :)

message 67: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Spreadsheets help SO much with challenges - I admire that skill Judith!

message 68: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Is there a countdown for start of game? I swear I saw one at some point, but can't find one now. But it IS the 20th :)

message 69: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments It's started. I think around 6am EST

message 70: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

The countdown is under the first bullet, I almost missed it :)

message 71: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Oh thank you! Wow I looked past that at least 5 or 6 times!

message 72: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I finished my first book A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess .

I changed the task from "a new to you author" to "a creepy cover". I figured creepy cover might be harder to find and A Clockwork Orange definitely is creepy with the huge, screaming mouth with crooked teeth on the cover!

message 73: by Judith (new)

Sounds good! And yes, I'd say that was a creepy cover. Honestly the whole book is disturbing.

OMG! Very disturbing indeed! I think you gave it more stars than I did. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Also, I added it to my shelf for UNO 2019. Do we need to do that for the Captain challenge?

message 75: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Good idea to change to harder a harder task. That is creepy for sure!

message 76: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I think so, someone asked if we could use the same shelf from the normal UNO game and Karen or UNO Pixie said yes.

I read that a long time ago so I'm not even sure what I rated it. I'd probably rate it differently if I read it again now.

message 78: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Thanks, Suzanne!
Sounds good, Judith.
Off to start another quick book!

message 79: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 1050 comments First one done for me, Happily Never After. It's currently in for 100-150 pages but will fit a few of the other tasks (vampire, dark cover, creepy cover, C - Character Chase).

message 80: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Ready to post book #2 for my 201-250 page book. I was smart this time and have some shorter books, so hoping they go quick!

message 81: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments I’ve managed to finish 2.

A Week to be Wicked (The was fun and made me laugh) and Justice Calling.

I was a bit disappointed in Justice Calling, I think it was too short for her to develop the story/characters to where I’d of liked them to be. However, it being only 119 pages of easy reading made it a super quick read.

message 82: by Alison (new)

Alison (a1ison74) | 1050 comments Finished Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella for the sunglasses on the cover task. Have also started How to Be Famous by Caitlin Moran for the crowd on cover. Unfortunately it's not turning out to be the quickest of reads

message 83: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments I finished my "U" book today and my "C" book - however - I moved my C book to "character has regular interactions with boss" since I feel like that task might be harder? The male MC is the boss of the female MC - originally at his company, and then hiring her to be his fake fiancee (so seems like that works). However, if someone wants to read the boss task, I can move it back to "C" :)

message 84: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Lol and then I just changed my low pages book to a C book - "Craig" is a pretty main character

message 85: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Good idea, Suzanne! I think it’s smart for all of us to be flexible and move things to a harder task when it fits.

message 86: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments LOL, I usually go with nothing is completely final until the last book read has found a home and the spreadsheet is due to the mods :)

message 87: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Great - that makes a lot of sense. So many of these tasks, we won't know all they fit until we actually get to read. Thanks! (& ty for setting the example Nanci with the creepy cover).

message 88: by Nanci (last edited May 22, 2019 04:16PM) (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments If anyone gets the task for neon cover again, there is a perfect cover on this week’s NY Times best seller list. I think it’s#8 on the list.

Oops! I posted this to the wrong thread, sorry. I actually had a heart cath today and I must have been a bit woozy still when I posted.

message 89: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments I finished my A book today. I changed my W book from the Laura Ingalls Wilder book to The White Giraffe as that works for another challenge I'm doing too. Hint: If anyone is playing Alice In Wonderland, it's good the "long neck" task. :)

message 90: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments I changed my C book to an "ends up in the hospital" book because that happened :) I finished 3 books today - because we had a 10 hour drive.

message 91: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Awesome, Suzanne!

I finished my W book last night. Adding it now.

message 92: by Judith (new)

Judith (brownie72011) | 1876 comments Oh good Suzanne! Now I can stop feeling like a jerk as I read my books hoping someone ends up in the hospital 🤣

How’s the bike riding going?

message 93: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments Hahaha! I feel the same way, Judith!

message 94: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Haha yeah I felt rather guilty when I was happy that the hero got all shot up and was admitted for a long hospital stay!

We ended the bike riding a little early - our next planned stop was in Missouri right where the tornado happened that killed a couple of people, and we decided to just head home instead. We did get to visit the Little House on the Prairie museum while we were there - I absolutely loved it. About a quarter of a mile away there was a house whose roof had been blown off by a tornado the previous day. Wow nature is such a powerful thing!

message 95: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments That was sad about the tornado. We had just biked through that one town a few weeks ago. The Missouri people are so nice and down to earth. I didn’t know there was a museum for Little House on the Prarie there. I read all those books when I was a little girl!

message 97: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments I agree about the people we met - they were all very nice. And so much perseverence - we talked to some farmers who had just planted - looking at all the washed out fields, etc. It takes a special kind of person to be a farmer!

message 98: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 1864 comments The 250 mile Katy Trail was just about all farmland. I didn't realize they supplied so much of our food for us. The crops were almost under water when we were there, before the tornado. Those farm people feed America!

message 99: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Yes so true! It makes me want to read/learn more about that part of the country.

message 100: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 2453 comments Did you ladies do the stream with "nature scene on cover"? If so, do you know if something like Scandal in Spring (Wallflowers, #4) by Lisa Kleypas would count, or should it be ALL nature?
