Evička de Blois (tvidatko) | 63 comments Hi, I am not Super Librarian nor Staff but I assume that it's similiar case as https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Profiles are linked and books usually have two authors - her first name Kamala Suraiyya and her pen name Madhavikutty

Emily | 17614 comments If there is a book cover with one of the names on it, then that name should go first as the primary author.
Then other names can go second, third, etc.
However, for this author I would use this profile:

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...
and any other valid names can be a secondary author. This is different that most pen name situations because new editions are released all the time since it is in the public domain. If there is a specific example you need help with, feel free to post the link to it.

May i combine "Baron d'Holbach" name under the name "Paul Henri Thiry" ?

Emily W. ( You :) ) had a note at Feb. 2019 for these names. I saw when i edited names.

What do you suggest me to do ?

Emily | 17614 comments No, the authors should not be merged, because Baron d'Holbach appears on some of the covers of different editions. Plus, there are books with titles like "The Complete Works of Baron d'Holbach" where he is listed as an author that way.

I left the note so that other people would see that the author has a second name.
I don't mind personally, but for future reference, the rules in the group are that you do not refer to specific librarians' edits, even when giving credit to someone. :) Next time just say something like "According to the librarian note" etc.

But that's a title. We don't do titles.

Yes, you're right, and I now note we keep Lord Byron, but not Alfred Lord Tennyson. We're almost consistent. ;-)

Scott | 9168 comments Didn't know about Tennyson. That doesn't seem right.

I thought about that when I edited some of the books a few months ago. At the time, I decided not to do anything because he seems to have been known famously as Baron d'Holbach. If someone feels differently though they are welcome to weigh in! :-)

And yes, a great opportunity to mention Alfred! :D

Elizabeth (Alaska) I will also note that we *do* make exceptions for titles.
