Classic Chunkster Nominations - The Most Challenging Book of the Twentieth Century

Guys, I contacted Sandra three days ago, and we all agreed that the book does not fit into this themed read. It is a good novel, but it is historical fiction without being literature, and neither is it semantically or linguistically challenging. It is a perfect fit for historical fiction/family saga/the super chunkster (900 + pages)/ Nobel Prize Laureate themed reads - these are future reads we have been planning tentatively, and I will personally nominate the book when we run these themed reads, but right now, it does not meet the requirements of this read.
It is sad, but it is quite obvious that it will not participate in the poll. As you remember, I vetoed several books, including mine due to different parameters and factors.
P.S. Linda, thank you so much for sieving through the posts and listing the nominations in both threads. I have been busy all day long, dealing with our loan officer and an assessor, scheduling the appointment with the house inspector, shopping for our new house insurance ... and the other pleasures of buying a new house. Because we are not selling our current house, it means we can not transfer our insurance, but we are buying an additional one.
I am still with you guys, but sometimes physically can not respond immediately.
I hope next week all the papers will be filled in and gathered, and then we will only have to wait for closing date. Packing, meanwhile, is still on our everyday agenda.
I am sure we will transition peacefully into a new house, and it will not affect our reading projects, but the upcoming week might be too "paper-worky" and "commuty". New Joycean adjectives aux Ulysses :-)

Hmmm...it looks like her question might have gotten overlooked since I don't see a response from anyone. I would be curious if it is challenging too, it looks interesting.
