I probably have other reflections to share on this later, but for now I'll briefly say:

-This is a good final story--among the short ones, before Metamorphosis--because it reflects a lot of what we've seen in other Kafka stories.

-This may well be a good companion piece to Europe Central, which we'll soon be reading, in terms of the relationship of the artist to her/his society, and the sort of mutual misunderstanding and failure of trust.

Good point! I was thinking about Europe while reading this.
