If I use me books in A Pirate's Life for Me,Can I use those books in A Treasure There May Be?
Or must I use for each separate books from me bank?
I don't want to fail my challenges, and have to walk the plank...
Ahoy Kimberly!
Thanks ye for your rhyming prose
And an interesting question that you did pose!
For the challenges you can use the same books
And for this we shan't have ye chased by Captain Hook!

How are you judging completing the challenges since there's a range of 1-13+ books? Seems odd to compare first place with such a large spread.
I was wondering if we can use the book that was read in one challenge also be counted towards the other challenge:For example I'm reading Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge for the "THERE BE TREASURE CHALLENGE, could this book also be counted towards the spell out challenge in PIRATES LIFE FOR ME
Will you be linking all of the challenges to one place, so that we know which challenges are included? Or is it more of a treasure hunt where you have to find all the different challenges on your own?
Hi Kathy - Just wanted to let you know that that same question was asked and answered above. Capt Jack said we can use the same books in different challenges.

This comes down to individual strategy ;)
The first to post complete, as long as they meet the challenge requirements, will be counted as first. The challenges have been updated to include a minimum 125 page count per book.

All the ways to earn gold dubloons will be posted in the thread Captain Jack's Demands.
They will be posted at random times, roughly every second day. This should enable people in different time zones to have first access.

For option 5- create a story- in the September's A Pirate's Life for Me Reading Challenge, can we use books like I Take You: A Novel, and ignore the "novel" part, or do the titles need to be straight forward like I Take You?

For the There Be Treasure Challenge, can I use just the subtitle of a book, or do I have to also use the title? Here's my post.

There be treasure rules state count the number of letters in the title (including subtitle), the authors first name, the authors last name or any combination of the above So because there isn't a comma, all the words from the title and subtitle need to be used.
In your case Kaitlin, yes you will need another book to sail back. (But I love your fiendish thoughts!)

So where do we post if we've completed both the challenges? (I have - here and here)It's the absolute least that I can't believe I've finished one round!

It mentions in the Demands Post that you post a new comment saying you're done with a link or the number of your original post.
You don't need to complete both at the same time. They're being run independently of each other.
Vi wrote: "Oh!! Sorry, that was me being dense. Time to hit the bed if I can't make sense. Thanks, Kelly!"No problem. I suffer from lack of sleep too. :)

Oh Captain Jack, there's a question I hasto asks
Is there a place for us all to track
how many dubloons we've earned from all the tasks?
I'm hoping there's a spreadsheet somewhere
where we can see how well we've each fared
Aye Lesley there sure be that!
Soon it shall be public, but until then I have made a "rankings" list here for all our mighty pirates.
sorry me rhyming tongue be broken today

If you follow step 4 and 5 shown in these instructions:

then just paste that copied link into a new message

So, I don't quite understand how the riddles work. It sounds with the most recent one like there's four answers, but with the earlier ones there was just one? Could you maybe share the answers from the ones that are over so I can catch on?
Sure. Around about every second day (depending on which part of the world Captain Jack is sailing) a demand is posted. It may be a set of 4 riddles, or a different type of puzzle. The first one - titled Day 3 Demand - was a set of 4 riddles. Each riddle gave a clue to a thread within the NBRC group and within the thread a pirate image is posted. The hidden images are also somewhere in the demand post.
For example:
Riddle 1
I've burried some treasue
I'll give you a clue
I'll not tell a lie
This tale be true.
led to the Sub-genre: Non-Fiction thread in the Reading Challenges folder and the treasure was hidden in this post
Riddle 2
To this deserted island
My treasure I do bring
Some I stole from a Queen
And some stole from a King
led to June Challenge: Get Royal thread in the Monthly/Seasonal Challenges folder and was hidden in this post
Riddle 3
Latte, short black
Medium roast
Macchiato
Make a toast
led to the Coffee Talk - About everything and nothing thread in the Chat Room folder and was hidden in this post
Riddle 4
To find me treasure
I suggest you hone
Your sense of humor
And funny bone
led to the Funny books/ Books that make you laugh thread in the Recommendations, please... folder and was hidden in this post
There did seem to be some confusion, so I reworded the demand for day 7.
Does that help Kaitlin?

Yes we have you down - just giving points once DQs are completed

For the There Be Treasure challenge, for authors that use initials, we count the punctuation as well, correct? So for example, J.K. Rowling would be 11?
Renee wrote: "Jaclyn, punctuation doesn't count add letters so J.K. Rowling would be 9."Ok thanks Renee!

Too much rum.......will put them up now.

Question from A Pirates Life for Me ChallengeFor word it out, could we also use author (e.g. Black in Shayla Black or using Jack London in the phrase "Jack Ketch" or the "old" in Harold) and series (e.g. Black for Black Dagger Brotherhood, or Man in "Dream Man") or must we stick with only the title?
I messaged the answer for demand 17 on 9/17 about eight hours after question posted, have not heard anything back - are you getting the message? It said it was sent?
Message came through. Captain Jack has been sailing through a different timezone so was having a nap. Will get to them after breakfast.
I just want to point out that I only have a kindle, therefore I was not able to do any puzzles which required flash player or the crossword puzzle (the last puzzle) - otherwise there is no doubt in my mind I would have done way better but I was at a minor disadvantage there:-(
Does anyone know how to do the word search on an iPad? It will only let me highlight the first letter of the word, but not drag the highlight.
Jaclyn wrote: "Does anyone know how to do the word search on an iPad? It will only let me highlight the first letter of the word, but not drag the highlight."Sorry, the wordsearch isn't mobile device friendly :(
Sarah wrote: "I just want to point out that I only have a kindle, therefore I was not able to do any puzzles which required flash player or the crossword puzzle (the last puzzle) - otherwise there is no doubt in..."Sorry you felt at a disadvantage Sarah. We tried to structure this challenge with a variety of ways to earn points and post puzzles at a variety of times to spread the advantage around in the hope that more people would have the chance to answer first. I hope you still had lots of fun!
I know it just stunk cause I couldn't do the last puzzle which I was competing for second place, yes second, with Stephanie. I did all the ones I could though.
