Since there are only three people participating, you are all in one group. So go ahead and give each other the correct number of books and start reading and discussing. Let me know if you have questions. I think we will just use this thread since there are not many participants this time. :)

Lyn, can you remind me how many books to give for someone reading 2?

Nevermind. I just re-read the rules and we pick X (number committed to read) + 1 for each other team member.

I will post my picks for Lauren and Amanda tomorrow - 3 each.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
That is correct, Bea! Glad you were able to find it in my absence. :)

My picks for Lauren:

After I'm Gone by Laura Lippman
Shadow Spell by Nora Roberts (THEME)
A Cold Dark Place by Toni Anderson

Since I had read none of the books on your list, I had to find other criteria for selection. Lippman and Roberts are authors I have read and enjoyed. Anderson's book was the highest rated on your list. I hope you enjoy them.

My picks for Amanda:

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
A Ballad For Georg Henig by Viktor Paskov (THEME)
The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

Amanda, I chose two books I really liked for you: The Secret Garden 4* and The Ocean at the End of the Lane 5*. I hope you enjoy both as much as I did. The final book I chose was your highest rated on the list: A Ballad for Georg Henig. It looked interesting.

Amanda | 380 comments Sorry all, have not been about. Will choose tonight.

Bea, I have just finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane, but haven't updated my lists. I did really enjoy it, have read a Gaiman graphic novel since, and just saw I have American Gods to pick up from the library. Really enjoying his work.

Amanda | 380 comments Hi Bea,

can't access your shelf, so I will have to wait to add, sorry :(

Lauren,

I haven't read anything on your shelf either ! So, taking a stab based on the Autumn theme
1) The Rift Walker
2) The Iron Duke
3) Darkness Dawns

Amanda | 380 comments Bea,

1) The Honorary Consul - THEME
2) Flaubert's Parrot
3) The Road
4) Emma

I've only started reading Greene this last year, and I have enjoyed each of his books.
Flaubert's Parrot I read at university, and enjoyed.
The Road is on my TBR, and if I ever get through my library books I will get to it!
Emma was probably the first Austen I managed to finish!

Getting my three books read by the end of October will be easy as I have so many to choose from on my desk!

I have The Raven Boys (got from library yesterday) and Emma as my first two reads. However, I will not be able to start either one for another week as I NEED to finish Sons and Lovers and Les Misérables this coming week.

message 20: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 380 comments I was needing to check when we had to read them by. I have 23 out of 26 library books to read ( nearly finished The Princess Bride , and about 1/3 of the way through Midsummer Nights, and am really hoping to knock a few more off before I have to go back to work.

Thank goodness for time off!

The end of October, I think.

Well, wouldn't you know it? I read a POTS book chosen for me without realizing it. The Road

This book was on my scattershelves and SRC, so I read it for those reasons. Now I see that Amanda chose it for me for POTS. Yippee! One book done.

I am starting Emma and The Raven Boys today. The Raven Boys is a library book, so if I get bogged down reading (so many books going), I will at least get it done by 10/11. Emma I own.

How are y'all doing? Started a book yet? If so, what are you reading?

message 23: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 380 comments Not started because I am struggling with all the library books. Renewed and re-shuffled the pile this morning, at least all the big ones are at the top, and I have until the end of the month to read the smaller ones. Have a feeling a couple will go back unread, only to be put on hold again.

Hoping after this weekend to be more under control.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1223 comments Haven't started reading mine yet either. So many challenges, so little time :0)

Book two nearly done (The Raven Boys). I expect to finish it today. This one was also on my Scattershelves and another group's challenge. Still reading Emma. I suspect that it will take me most of the month as I am reading it on my PC and doing only two chapters a day. There are a total of 55 chapters in the book. I am about 30% done.

I try to read a book which will satisfy several challenges at a time.

While I am still reading Emma, I also read (and finished) A Cold Day For Murder. That makes three books completed for me.
