Jen (jentrewren) | 1124 comments This was not nearly as dry as I expected. Darwin actually writes fluently and uses some interesting examples to illustrate his points (no mention of finches) from barnacles to bats and everything (almost) in between.
I knew Darwin was a Christian initially and this seems to have led him to treat other beliefs more respectfully than some who apparently quote him. It is obvious he was struggling to reconcile his original beliefs with the evidence he saw on his travels.
The one star not given is for the pages explaining the diagram of evolution. It could have been a much shorter explanation since the diagram said most of it anyway. Though perhaps that is because we are now familiar with his theory and when he originally published people weren't.
