This weeks discussion question is a more of a get to know each other kind of question.

Do you remember how you discovered your favorite author, or authors?

Personally it is hard to choose between Mary Connealy and Karen Witemeyer as my favorites. However, I discovered them both the same way. I was browsing the library shelves one day and frankly liked the covers of "Montana Rose" and "Short-Straw Bride". I didn't bother reading the back too much. I was instantly drawn by their humor and their writing styles. Both Mary and Karen are two authors who I will now purchase their books without a second thought (normally I only buy books that I know I enjoy a GREAT deal).

Ashley | 22 comments I was at my Mom's house for the weekend and plans for that night fell through, so I was stuck at her house. Her guest bedroom had a bed that its headboard was a bookshelf and it was crammed with paperbacks. The most interesting sounding one was "Roses are Red" by some guy named James Patterson. I finished the book in a night and was dismayed at finding out it was a two-parter as my thought was how will I ever find the second book. Imagine my shock at finding out that J.P was kind of a big deal with 2 movies (at the time) based off his novels and the large number of books he had out.
Other favorite authors were introduced to me by my brother (Chuck Palahniuk, Dean Koontz) or by random discovery at a yard sale/thrift store (Tami Hoag, Erica Spindler)

Janie R. (janierfreeman) | 25 comments It's also difficult to choose for me,my favorite author- between Fern Michaels and Debbie Macomber. Several years ago, my neighbor offered me some books she had read, and didn't want anymore. These two authors's books were among them,I read them, and from thereon, I was hooked! Since then, I have read many other authors' books and found some favorite ones, but Ms.Michaels and Ms.Macomber, are still my most favorite authors.

Kim Hampton | 84 comments I have SO many favorite authors, it's hard to choose! I discovered Nicholas Sparks when I worked at the local library. One of the librarians asked if I had ever read anything by him, and I hadn't, so she suggested I give him a try. I started with "The Notebook" and fell in love! Then I watched all the movies and fell even harder! I also love James Herriot, my dad and my older sister introduced his books to me because we all love animals. I've seen part of the TV series based on them, and would love to buy the whole thing. My sister also introduced me to Laura Ingalls Wilder and I fell in love with her books. Janie, I've been reading Debbie Macomber for a few months and I love her too! My goal is to read everything she's written, I'm slowly working my way through them now.

Janie R. (janierfreeman) | 25 comments Kim, glad to hear you like Debbie Macomber's books!I've read many of Debbie Macomber's books, and they never disappoint me, they're good books, the same with many of Fern Michaels.

So many authors out there that are really good. Ashley I have only read one book by Dean Koontz, it was "Lightning" and I only read it because my dad challenged me to read (I was a stubborn teenager who hated reading at the time) and well it is one of those books that has stayed with me over the last 25 years or so. Actually thinking about it I might just see if my library has it to check it out again LOL.

Janie and Kim I haven't read anything by Debbie MaComber yet, but waiting for some digital books to come to me through the library. I thought I would give her "Cedar Cove" series a try since I watched the show on Netflix one weekend and enjoyed it LOL

Rachael (rachsramblings) | 9 comments I guess Michael Phillips would be my favorite. I love Laura Frantz and Jody Hedlund as well. I found out about Phillips by checking out his books at the library. Now, I own almost all of them! :)

I think you will like her. I haven't found a book by her I didn't like yet! And she writes a good variety too. They are all romance but some have a little mystery thrown in, some have action....they are all good!

Haven't read Fern Michaels but I've heard she's really good. I did read some Nora Roberts and really enjoyed them.

Wanda Brustetter is a wonderful author. She was my top favorite author until I found Mary Connealy and Karen Witemeyer. They both quickly toppled her off the top spot LOL

Are you planning on reading the rest of the books (7 more in all) that goes with Petticoat Ranch and Calico Canyon? That series (Lassoed in Texas with 3 books, Montana Marriages, with 3 books and Sophie's Daughters with the last three books) is the first I read of her and the first time I read the series completely out of order LOL
