Jørgen Gangfløt | 8 comments Married couple out camping with wifes best friend when spaceship lands, Alien dying gives wife control of the ship. They drive their cars into the spaceship to take off to hide from the government. Husband used to work for some sort of agancy tht deals with alien. The ship is just a shuttle and takes them to a huge spaceship. The large ship is a factory ship. They start recruitment to learn all that they can while at the same time keep it out of the governments control. The big ship has some sort of teleport system that helps them escape several times when visiting earth.

Please help, because I'm pretty sure I own the book and that it is in my collection, but I cant remember the name and the synopsis search do not react when I put in camping+spaceship.

Please note you can bump your request (post a comment) every 30+ days - or sooner if you remember more information. Not more often because this group is so large.

Jørgen, around what year did you read this book? This will help narrow down the search.

Jørgen Gangfløt | 8 comments Sorry, I forgot that rule about bumping, I read the book during the last two years, but suspect it is a kindle book or a hint I found after looking through a list kindle books about space.

One thing I remember thinking a few weeks later was how similar 'Darrell Bain's Warp Point" was. But thanks to my fucked up memory and a computer crash, I don't have a date when they were read.. I'm using Warp point as a starting point now because I remember I found one because of following link on the second. I remember checking to see if there was any complaints against the newest book of them, but I can't remember which book that was.

I bought Warp Point during the summer of 2016, so I'm checking every book bought that year, because I usually buy books in bulks when I find a story type I'm looking for, 3-6 book happens more often than I'd like.

Other details: The ship they find leads back to a huge ship, they later find that the huge ship is a factory ship. At the same time the government is tracking them down and "lays traps'. They return home to finish up a few things and get some more food. During their exploration of the ship they also find a type of transporter system that can teleport them back to the ship from anywhere as long as they carry a beacon. They use this to escape the government a few times.

They also start requiting people to help explore the ship after deciding that sharing the discovery with any government would be a bad thing.

They plan to copy the tech as quickly as possible before the aliens who built the ship comes looking for it.

I remembered this when I opened the 'Warp Point' again, just now.

What is the wife's job/skills? How is she able to control the ship/shuttle?

Was the alien scheduled to meet with the husband? Were they strangers? Why is the alien dying? (Spoilers are okay - just give us a clear warning before revealing a spoiler, or use the HTML spoiler tag.)

CraigH | 1 comments I think the book you are asking about is called "Legacy" by Bob Mauldin. It's the first in a series, and is available on Amazon.

Jørgen Gangfløt | 8 comments Thanks, CraigH, That's the book.

I've read so many over the last few years that it is a mangled mess in my head and while I sort of remember the story, titles are gone.

On average I've read more than 400 books pr year for the last 11 years or so. About half to two thirds are books being reread, the rest is new books and sometimes a story stick with me for some reason and that bugs the hell out of me when I can't find the book title.

So thanks to both CraigH for the title and SamSpayedPI for the link.
