I was approached today by the organizers of a conference about holding a signing of my book. I'm excited about this from the standpoint of publicity, of course, but also because the conference is sponsored by the organization that really helped me see myself as a writer in the first place. Were it not for this organization, I would never have written, much less published a book. We generally have about 250 people at the conference. The organizer has asked me and two other of our consultants who have published to show off our work as inspiration to others.
So here are my questions: How many copies of my novel should I bring? I don't mind having some left over, but I don't want a car load! My book would not be suitable for most of the participants for classroom use (it's YA/NA, they tend to be younger grades teachers), but they may want for themselves...especially since I will know a lot of people there from my work with this group over the past 7 years.
I published through Create Space/Amazon. I know you can order copies there, but am I better off to order from Amazon to boost my sales?
What promo items should I bring? I've mostly sold through Kindle, and would love the opportunity to garner sales in that way from people I meet at the conference.
