Even at the late hour, the bar was semi loud with the voices of the patrons that frequent it. There were a lot of tough characters in there drinking and playing pool. It was a wondered that they got anywhere for how dark it was. An unheard sigh came from one of the tables in a dark corner. The woman sitting there wasn’t in the least entertained by those in the bar. Yet it was comforting that no one seemed to know her. It would remain that way if she stayed in the shadows. That is if she didn't let the boredom get to her. She sighed once more before taking a drink. She resumed watching the patrons as she leaned back in her chair. What she didn’t expect was that the next person that walked though the door would be looking for her.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt Murdock walked into the bar, making a false pretense of tapping the ground with his white cane. Despite being blind, he saw more than most people could. As he turned His hyper-enhanced senses on the room around him.
He smelled boiled peanuts, cheap cologne, cigar smoke, and beer. He could hear a drunken man trying to lure a waitress into his booth. The waitress gave an indignant huff and slapped him before practically dropping his beer on the table and storming off. But those were the obvious senses.
The scent of blood and rusted steel, followed by a loud curse told him that one of the men in the corner had accidently cut himself while absentmindedly running a finger along the edge of his pocket knife. One of the sinks in the back kitchen was leaking. In the back alley a cocaine dealer was trying to hook a guy going out for his smoke break. Four stacatto thumps on a dumpster lid, followed by a 'Meow', and the tiniest jingle of a bell told him a runaway cat had jumped up onto the dumpster. One of the Poker players was using an earpiece to cheat.
It was no surprise then, that Matt's ears picked up on a sigh that he knew would be imperceptible to anyone else. He made his way over to the bar and cleared his throat behind where the woman sat. "Excuse me, Miss, I'm in need of your services."

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue didn't react when someone approached her from behind. She knew it had to be the one that had sent her the message. It was also the fact that this was the only person that seemed even remotely interested in why she was there. "Depending on what that is, I just might be your girl. Come have a seat, Sugar and we'll talk."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) ((What should the problem be?))

message 5: by The Batman (Reagan) (last edited May 12, 2019 07:39PM) (new)

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt reached out to find the barstool, then sat down. He straightened his tie and held out a hand. "Matthew Murdock of Nelson, Murdock, and Page." He lowered his voice to a near whisper. "There's been a..." He cleared his throat. "An influx of mutants joining or at least partnering with some of the local crime syndicates. I reached out to your mentor... one Charles Xavier. He recommended you."

"Really, I should have known I couldn't hide from him....." Rogue thought as she shook Matt's hand. "Rogue and he's probably right." She smiled slightly as she let go of his hand. "He always said I had an unique skill set."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) "From what I've heard, they're exactly what I need." He paused, head cocked ever so slightly to the side so as to catch a sound behind him.
"This isn't the safest place to talk about this." Murdock said as he heard two large bikers approaching the bar, weighed down by heavy leather and chains. "Perhaps we could stop by my law firm? I'll brew some tea or coffee."

message 8: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue nods. "Most places aren't but these guys look like they take it personally. " She glanced at the guys approaching. "I'm sure it's not my southern charm."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) "I'm mostly afraid of being overheard." Matt said and stood. He wasn't worried about the bikers. He could feel from their footfalls that were both slightly overweight with a high center of gravity. One had a slight limp, presumably from a recent accident, that could be exploited. Furthermore, they were in deep conversation about Johnny's funeral next week. They weren't here to make trouble; they were here to grieve. "Follow me to the curb and I'll call a cab." He said, walking to the door, his cane tapping.

message 10: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments "That's the problem with public places." Rogue said as she stood up. After a moment she followed. She knew she could just take them where they needed to go but wasn't in the mood to be discovered just yet. She moved up to him. "I hate places like this......" She said softly.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) "Not a fan of them myself. Which begs the question, why choose to meet here in the first place?" Not that it really mattered. He was just trying to make small talk. As they reached the curb, he raised a hand and whistled sharply. A yellow taxi quickly stopped for them. Matt opened the door and held out a hand for Rogue to use to step up into the vehicle.

message 12: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments "Because no one will think to look there." Rogue replied with a smile. She watched as he called the cab. She was impress that he opened the door for her and hesitated when he held out his hand for her. She took Matt's hand with her glove one and him guide her to the car. Once inside she slid over so he could join her. "Thank you...."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt climbed into the cab and smoothed out his suit jacket and his tie. "Nelson, Murdock, and Page." He told the driver. "And please put out your cigar." The driver grunted reluctantly and pulled a fat stogie from between his teeth and knocked the ashes off in to an ashtray, then snubbed it out. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever." He muttered a few curses under his breath. Matt noticed that it took considerably less time to reach the location. The driver held out a hand, Matt handed him some bills, and he exited the cab and walked around to open the door for Rogue.

message 14: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue was caught off guard that Matt opened her door. After a moment she got out of the cab trying to not think about the last person that opened doors for her. "Thank you." She smiled as she stepped away from the cab. "He was.... pleasant...." She moved slightly closer to Matt. "Do you feel like you're being watched....." She whispered.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) "I don't sense anyone doing anything they shouldn't. Someone in that apartment is cooking dinner. Stir Fry, I think. There's a radio playing Hispanic music in that one. The parrot next door hears it too, because it's singing along. A cat ran by just now, smelling of tuna. That hydrant has a leak. No suspicious activity." He made his way to the door of the law firm. "Which in this part of the city might be more suspicious."

message 16: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue made no comment about his exceptional hearing. "True..." She said following him to the door. "But I have a feeling it isn't physical eyes I'm feeling." She said mostly to herself. "Maybe I'm just used to being on guard is all." She told him. "Maybe I'll feel better with that coffee."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt nodded and smirked knowingly. He held the door open for her, then followed her inside. He reached inside the door of the office and ran a hand along the wall. He wasn't used to using the light-switch and it took him a second or two for find it for Rogue. "There you go." He made his way over to the coffee maker that sat on the edge of a cluttered table, his cane dangling by it's strap on his arm. He had no need of it. He put on a cup and gestured for her to sit in a cushioned armchair across from the desk. "Please forgive the mess. My associates and I have been working on a tough case. He began to move some of the papers, but realized that it would take too long. Besides, he figured, Foggy and Karen probably had some sort of method to the madness. He left it reluctantly and sat down across from her. "The Irish Kitchen..." He said. jumping into the heart of the issue without any build up. "They're an Irish mafia. They've partnered with an organization under the name of The Brotherhood of Mutants. Do you know anything about them, aside from their very on-the-nose moniker?"

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments (Ok…… this is my hundredth time trying to post… Hopefully it doesn’t delete it again…)

Rogue waited for the lights to come on without complaint. She took in the room once the lights were on. She smiled as she made her way carefully around the mess to the chair. “Reminds me of a few other offices I’ve seen so it’s ok.” She said as she sat in the chair. She watched him as he went to move the papers but then decided to sit. She listened as he spoke about the Irish Mafia then the Brotherhood of Mutants. “Not those guys again…” Was her first reaction follower by a sound of distaste. “They’re nothing but trouble…”

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) ((Sorry. I was trying to figure out a decent reply.))
"So I've gathered. The same could be said for the Kitchen Irish. Have you got any idea what they might be planning together? What are the Brotherhood's interests? Are they merely being paid to intimidate the shopowner's into paying protection money? Highly unnecessary. Are they protecting the drug dealers? Possible. But it doesn't seem like the right answer."

Rogue thought a moment. "No, but I'm sure it's not good. I'm sure that the Brotherhood will turn on them in an instant once the cover is no longer needed..." She crossed her arms. "The Brotherhood aren't normally hired guns..."

message 32: by Eve O. Spellman (new)

Eve O. Spellman A knock sounded on the door. Agent Daisy Johnson pushed her hair behind her ear as she waited. She then clasped her hands in front of her, leaning froward on her feet before rocking back. Daisy had been watching the pair using the Hell Kitchen's security cameras.

Coulson had informed her about the situation about the Brotherhood joining with a gang in the Kitchen so she had been sent here.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt had heard footsteps outside the office building, even before there was a knock on the door, but waited before asking Rogue. "Sorry, I'll get that." He stood and took up his cane. He made his way to the door and opened it. "My apologies, I'm with a client." He handed the stranger a business card. "If you would give me a call, I can offer my services at a later date."

message 34: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue looked at the door as Matt opened it. She wasn't sure but the voice was some what familiar. Waiting patiently him to return to his desk, she thought about what she knew.

message 35: by Eve O. Spellman (new)

Eve O. Spellman Daisy raised an eyebrow before remembering oh yeah, he's blind. She awkwardly cleared her throat. "Um, I'm not here to make an appointment, Mr. Murdock. I'm Agent Daisy Johnson of S.H.I.E.L.D. I'll let you see, um, feel my badge if that would prove what I say." Daisy winced at her slip of words. "If I may, I would like to come in."

message 36: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue continued to sit but studied Matt's office. She then leaned forward to look at a piece of paper. She smiled seeing it was. It was proof that he wasn't pretending to be someone else. She ran her hand over the piece of paper.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) Matt heard the honesty in her voice and noticed their was no increase in heartrate as Daisy spoke. "No, that's all right. Please, come in. Have a cup of coffee. What's this about?" He asked, shutting the door behind her.

message 38: by Eve O. Spellman (new)

Eve O. Spellman Daisy slowly walked in but didn't enter to far before she spoke. She had glanced around for anything that would seem a bug would hide and, while there were several areas, took comfort in her previous computer scans. Daisy thought a moment as she scanned and then spoke. "The same reason you brought the mutant titled Rogue here. The Brotherhood teaming up with a local group." She said, looking at Murdock.

message 39: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla Sage (priscillasage) | 124 comments Rogue sat the paper back on his desk and sat back down. She then waited for him to return. She sighed when she heard that he had let the person from S.H.I.E.L,D. in and looked up when she heard how the woman refereed to her. For now she kept quiet.

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) ((Sorry guys. I've been trying to work two jobs lately and I don't have a ton of free time anymore. Also, sorry Pris, if it feels like I'm ignoring Rogue at the moment.))
Matt nodded and walked back to his desk. "Any insight into their motivation or modus operandi would be appreciated." What do you know?" He sat down again across the desk from Rogue and gestured vaguely to a third chair, inviting Daisy to sit. "What do either of you know?"

Eve O. Spellman Daisy looked at Rogue before nodding. "Yes, we heard something along those lines." She said. "Whether it be person or object, it is something of great, great power. Coulson believes that it could be something older. I wouldn't be surprised if there are other organizations after them or it."

The Batman (Reagan) (thebatman7424) "Something or someone older? What's his theory?" Matt asked. "And who else would be involved in this race? Hydra? Obviously S.H.I.E.L.D has a stake."
