Isaac Lady du Burgh, a goblin noblewoman, spent months preparing for the arrival of Braingwain Spurge. She tried making every detail look exactly like it would look in the White Kingdom. She had her chefs make elvish delicacies and she had the bard learn elvish songs. Yet, everything looked out of place and forced. The bard could barely sing the tune and the food tasted all wrong. Then the goblins tried to play a goblinish tune about a famous battle between elves and the goblins. Spurge started thinking that the goblins were mocking the massacre of elves that took place on that day. He started yelling at Lady du Burgh about how bad her hospitality was. She, of course, got angry because she had spent months upon months preparing for this day and not only did Spurge not appreciate her efforts but also publicly questioned her hospitality. And things only got worse from there. The goblins were trying so hard to understand the culture of the elves and Spurge was doing nothing to understand the culture of the goblins. Anybody who has been to another country probably knows that when you are there you have to respect their culture and way of life. Braingwain Spurge did none of these things and as a result, made quite a few enemies. His job was to make peace.
