ABANDONED. science fiction series about warrior cats in space

Science Fiction series of books I read, probably around 8 years or more years ago. Warrior cats were taking over worlds. The species was primarily female with males only used for mating. Humans had been enslaved and had to wear collars. I remember the story arc being about a human male had risen out of slavery when he formed a connection with his "handler" and was trained as a cat warrior gaining their respect. He ended the war between the cats and the humans.
