You can "bump" your thread every month or so. This pushes your thread back to the top of the folder instead of languishing here on page 144 from six months ago where fewer eyes will see it. Get back in the game! Bump!
You can do this by typing a new comment at the end of the thread, or even by typing the word "bump."
Good luck!

I remember this book beginning with the the main character as a child who had a fascination for killing bugs, insects, and I think small animals. He did not really have any friends, except one, which he asked his opinion on the killing of small things in an attempt to feel like it was actually okay. The boy didn't give an answer he liked and I think that was the end of their friendship.
There was also a specific scene while he was younger where his parents argued often and after an argument at dinner the father chased his wife upstairs and the boy followed in anticipation. He was waiting to see if his dad would end up strangling the mother but alas they both just sighed and fell on top of each other.
Im not sure if this is the same story but a strange man used to to follow the boy home after school.
Once hes an adult he has a girlfriend, maybe Italian or German? Hes pretty indifferent about her but she's head over heels for him and their future. I remember the book describing him as always having this separated feeling from others and hes just with the young girl because he knows it is what's expected.
They go on a trip, I think, and during the trip I remember a small detail where the girlfriend had a small intimate moment with another woman in a hotel room, nothing really happened but the main character had witnessed the event.
Towards the end of the book, they are married and they have a young daughter. They are leaving their home in a car and during the journey, an airstrike rains down. When the main character gathers the strength to crawl out of the vehicle he sees his wife and daughter are dead.
Its was also made into a movie, I watched a few clips and its older definitely not recent and im pretty sure that the original language is in French
