Austin Nellessen Ever wonder what life in North Korea is like? Not like the façade created by the regime, as depicted by the famous fake grocery store scene in The Interview 2, but the actual reality of life in the rest of the country. Such is the gripping story about the trial and struggle of the main character as he attempts to unravel the stories fed to him since his childhood and develop into the person he is today. Based on the author’s life, Every Falling Star by Sungju Lee depicts a family’s fall from prominence in North Korea. They are kicked out of the golden city, Pyongyang, and forced to experience the life of those not chosen for glory by their supreme leader. Though I read very little nonfiction, I enjoyed this book immensely due to its story-like nature and could hardly put it down. Because of the ongoing crisis in North Korea and its place in the affairs of the world, I would very much recommend this book, especially to those who are interested in politics or the secret nature of North Korea.
