ABANDONED. YA dystopian book with two POV's from a brother and sister

I remember very little about the plot, unfortunately. I read the book in 2012 when I was in the fifth grade and I bought the book from a scholastic book order catalog. I think it's a trilogy. It's told from the perspective of two characters who are brother and sister and it flips between the two very rapidly. The two kids both have powers I think. Some more specific things I remember are that the children were forced to run away by their parents and they were allowed to take one thing and that one thing was really important to the sister but I can't remember what it was. Also in one of the later books they are captured and they are sort of brain washed or sedated with chocolate.
