Everyman: Well, Zeke, you helped me talk myself into it. I went ahead and ordered the Rose translation, since I can see the physical act of reading the Signet becoming more and more challenging as we get further into the book.

Since you will have both translations, Perhaps when you find places in the Rose that grate on you, you will compare them with the Signet and share the difference with us.

An added bonus of the Modern Library version is an exceptional introduction by Adam Gopink.

Selina (selinatng) | 62 comments I was able to borrow a copy of the Rose' translation from the library a week ago, and read some of the books in Fantine from this translation. Here's an article commenting on various translation. If you know French, you may understand this article better.
