Mic | 2 comments Book was purchased from Toronto Airport (Canada), was on display in the book store approx. 2010-2012.

The main character is a scientist who begins by explaining that he gets to study the phenomena. He explains the premise that races are set up by when they discovered and began to study the phenomena, with the most advanced races being closer, and less advanced races being further away. He describes that the oldest and most advanced has been studying it for a very long time and if they can't/haven't figured it out then what is the real chance of anyone figuring it out. If my memory serves me, there was a "count down clock" established to the end of universe, and so the novel was starting with a time crunch aspect... that is really all I remember, lost the book on same vacation I purchased it... always wanted to read the whole book and see how it ended... any help is appreciated! Thanks for your time.

Mic, can you describe the phenomena and initial impressions of it?

Mic | 2 comments I want to describe the phenomena like something that is going to explode (sun going supernova), but on a level that would wipe out all existence... but I also want to describe it like a black hole, where the races that have been studying it the longest have found a way to get closer, without being affected by the effects of the phenomena... if that makes sense...

My first impression that I remember was that it was rediculously awesome and that however the author described it, it left me really excited to see how the characters were going to handle it (I know that doesn't really explain it well, I am sorry) There was a sense of awe in the phenomena.
