message 20: by gabriella (new)

gabriella | 15 comments Wylan: WHY-lihn
Matthias: Mat-HE-iss
Inej: In-ej (soft 'french' g sound, as at the end of 'garage')
Kruge: Kroog-uh (Think pronunciation of Kruger)
Jan van Eck: Yun fun Ek
Grisha: Gree (like 'grim')- shuh
Merzost: Mirt-zost (o sound as in dot)

I think that's all the 'controversial' pronunciations?

message 28: by manar (new)

manar (manarsreads) | 9 comments And it was so hard to stop pronouncing Genya as with a G instead of a J lol

message 29: by Ida (new)

Ida | 1 comments Inej: ee-ney
Genya: Like kenya but with a hard G sound
Matthias: mah-tee-uhs (this one I stand by because thats the actual scandi pronunciation)
Grisha: don’t really know how to describe it but with a shorter i sound
I think I got the rest of the important character names kinda right from what I remember

message 30: by Stella (new)

Stella ☆Paper Wings☆ | 3 comments I would always imagine it like:
Inej: Een-EZH (like the zh in seizure)
Matthias: Ma-THAIY-us (I knew someone with the last name Matthias who pronounced it like that so that was my default)
Wylan: WHY-lahn
And I also pronounced Genya with the hard G instead of J. I think the only one I actually got right was kruge lol
