bohr took it very well not being the one credited for the findings of the atomic weights of the elements. I would have gotten pissed
when Kumar explains the fact that certain elements can combine with other elements because of the missing electron eas impressive. I was able to fully visualize what he was writing and made it very easy to understand the reason why certain elements like the halogens can make a compound easier than the noble gases
so funny when pauli was walking around Copenhagen and his buddy said you dont look happy and his answer was how I can be happy when I'm thinking about the perils of the zeman effect. how funny is that?!
funny that heisenberg and schrodinger had a fight between both of their findings. kind if the first real example of physicists not encouraging 3achothers works
page 226 and 227 when heisenberg presented his theory in front of four people with Nobel prizes !! that would have been pretty scary but at the same time when you know a subject so well it must be easy to talk about in public about it
cool how einstein challenged him to think that a theory can have something that is not observable. my boss challenges me but she's a bitch about it. who challenges you?
einstein thought out of the box by not allowing himself to only think of theories that can be explained by measurements. that's when he created his space and time theories.
bohr and einstein went hard st eachother regarding the uncertainty principle and how bohr just wanted einstein to accept the new quantum theory but einstein did not give in. he could not rebuttal with strong points against bohr but deep down he was not convinced. Iwould have loved to hear two great brains debate like they did. it would provide so much to learn.
einstein continued to believe natural phenomena u folded according to the laws of nature independent of abt observers
how cool was it to read about the impact of the great depression on Germany and how short term loans were immediately demanded by the us
the description of the library and trying to check out a book that isn't in their catalogue once again is an example of putting complex concepts in easy to grasp sentences for the common man
I think this is one thing to really take away from this book. is that simplicity is hard hut when done right can make you look like the most intelligent and understanding person in the room
The uncertainty principle says that you cannot accurately measure the momentum of an object and also the position
kind of silly what bohr is saying g that momentum o fly exist once it is measured. that sounds so obviously false so I wonder why he would even think that.
living in the kind of solitude that is painful in ones youth but in ones more mature years is delicious
einstein believe in local realism. that a particle cannot be instantly influenced by a distant even and that its properties exist independently of any measurement.
the many worlds interpretation. I've heard of it before. didnt know it was related to quantum theory
sad to hear about how pretty much towards the end of einstein's life he was somewhat regarded as someone who just didnt accept the truth about quantum theory and bohrs Copenhagen interpretation
