Lena I will start this weekend.

Lena I’m about forty minutes into the audiobook. So far a familial mystery and the MC is on a plane now. It’s oddly refreshing to read about a non cell phone world.

Lena 30% in. Really unpleasant cock fighting scene.

message 6: by Lena (new)

Lena 58% in. Terrifying reading about the Chinese holocaust in Java and Sumatra. I had never heard of those vicious divisions.
I did know about Pol Pot and the Cambodian genocide.

Bill Man is capable of great evil...

Roberta Biallas (bobbiebiallas) | 48 comments I just started this morning. This is my first non-Leaphorn/Chee book by Hillerman. I'm excited to see how it goes. So far, I'm pretty hooked.

Roberta Biallas (bobbiebiallas) | 48 comments Does anyone else find it fascinating that Moon is almost an ‘anti-hero?’ I’ve read some of Hillerman’s other books, and I’ve never got that from any of those. It’s interesting. In many ways,it’s makes Moon more like able that he’s a bit big around the middle, and has a lot of emotional baggage.

Roberta Biallas (bobbiebiallas) | 48 comments Just finished 'Finding Moon!' What a great book! I couldn't put it down! It's not a perfect happy ending, but is very satisfying.

Did anyone else get a totally wrong take on Mr. Lum Lee?

message 15: by Lena (new)

Lena I thought he was a sketchy gangster that might have had something to do with the helicopter crash. But only after the first scene.

Roberta Biallas (bobbiebiallas) | 48 comments I rather like his quirky character.

This book reminded me a lot of a book by Neville Shute called 'Pied Piper' in that he keeps up picking up random people (in this case, children) during his journey across war-torn Europe. Moon does the same thing.
