Not to be contrarian but I prefer The Origami Lotus because A Bolt of Silk sounds too much like a lump of stuff. ]:D
I think "The Origami Lotus" sounds more like romance. "A Bolt of Silk," doesn't strike me as romantic. Maybe it's me but it sounds like she's going to pick up the bolt and hit someone. You could combine them, "The Silk Lotus," or something like that.
A title should, as much as possible support the wor it is for.The question is, which one supports your work more?
The first title makes me think of asia, since lotus, is common to a number of Asian countries. Origami is specific to japan however, and if you were does not feature someone from japan, then I'd alter it. If it doesn, then the first title has very strong Japanese symbolism. The Chinese word for the same concept, Romanized is "in: Zhézhǐ". The second title is rather generic and doesn't quite contain the level of symbolism that the first one does.
Of absolutely last significance, it sounds better through my screen-reader too, but truly, absolutely no more should be considered on this part.
My problem with the original title is ... google "The Girl in the" and there are too many similar variations to it. It sounds cliché and that doesn't set a work apart. Also it's very similar to "The Girl with the" so, again, that reinforces the title's non-uniqueness.
Well, now, no need for me to google it. :) I'm on the other side of that argument. The reason it is familiar is exactly why I like it. :) The other side of 'unique,' is being so unique no one knows what it is. "Origami Lotus" is different, and I think it's better without "The," as Dwayne wrote it. So that works too, and I think most people know what origami is. But it's not as specific. The original title conjures an immediate visual.
For what it's worth, I think Girl in the Pink Kimono and Origami Lotus both sound very interesting, and don't need the definitive article "the" in front of them to be so. (Having said that, my books start with "the", and I couldn't see them without it.) So if "the" is a deal breaker for you, go with The Origami Lotus. Bolt feels a bit jarring or cold when I read it. Like lightning or running. The others flow softly and feel romantic. (Made me think about titles though, very thought provoking!!)
Good luck!!
Good luck!!

"The Origami Lotus"
"A Bolt of Silk"
Look forward to some long-awaited feedback!
