Well you know the pretend “faux” slasher of TBR has been still going hung ho this year, despite having had to add one or two to meet challenges, thanks to the secret phone list. But I am trying to not just read exclusively, but be selective about what to add and knock off. I love how these two beautiful books are ones I would not have thought to pick up. I am so far enjoying the Way of Beauty, and if I get to read Behind the Beautiful Forevers, it’s in my top ten oldest on the TBR. So are two others on my Trim list, and one from the series I have challenged myself to read this year. But May has proved to be helpful, and the Faux pretender slasher reads on!

Well, I'm already reading Inside My Heart: Choosing to Live with Passion and Purpose by Robin McGraw, which I think falls into this category. She's a beautiful woman, with a beautiful message.

Having picked two books with the word beautiful or beauty in it, I can tell you from the Way of beauty, but there’s absolutely nothing to do with beautiful. The book is a solid three. It’s not bad, but it’s not a not to be missed. I’m kind of just wanted to get through it so I can start my beautiful Brazil themed the air you breathe.
NancyJ wrote: "I have way too many beautiful books to read this month and I'm having a hard time prioritizing them. I am anxiously awaiting the 15th, to determine which books I might be able to put off until next..."Oh for sure, I reshuffle what I will read for what once I see the next theme! I've not yet started my TrimTBR, Horizons, or 'Beautiful' books! My reading has slowed to a crawl - work demands - and I don't like jumping from the middle of one book to start another. I don't see things getting much better the rest of this month.
There is hope I will fulfill all 3 though by end of month. My Trim book might well fit 'Beautiful" - Amor Towles' Rules of Civility. I have a 100 page book that I was seduced into recently buying (a Persephone Books publications) that definitely fits 'beautiful' as in cover/binding. And my Brazil choice will be one of the suspense/action/adventure books I found.
So which of them am I reading right now? NONE! I've escaped into historical romance...
Just joined so I am not exactly sure what I am doing but for Beautiful, I recommend Where the Crawdads sing. It was SO beautifully written and Kya, the protagonist, is truly beautiful inside and out in spite the fact she is a "Dirty marsh girl." Now if I can just figure out how to post a review.....

You guys, I must be crazy! Everyone has loved and raved about this book, but I'm halfway though Once Upon a River and it is just NOT FOR ME. I can't get into it, it's too magic-y, and too many meanderings. Maybe cause I'm doing it on audio has a factor? Now the question, I'm over 250 pages in, do I ditch it or find another beautiful book....

I say if you are not feeling it, chuck it for something else! I am a big fan of DNF when a book is just not getting it(or should I say giving?) for me!
Just wanted to say welcome Lori! About the book, who knows? I really loved it. But life is short. Read what you want. And beautiful is so subjective, that I can’t imagine you won’t find something by the end of the month it fits.

AJ, I do!! I totally think you can finish it. And, if you take a little time on June 1st to finish it up on a Saturday, then that totally counts too! I think you deserve a little bigger for a book that huge! Are you enjoying it?
AJ wrote: "Considering June is the first month in ages where Outlander doesn't fit the tag I could use some cheering on. I am almost 70% through Outlander, anyone think I can finish it over the next two days?"Sure. You can do it! It's really exciting at the end.
Nicole, I might need Saturday to finish writing my reviews if that's OK.

Good luck! I believe in you :)
AJ, for sure! I believe that Anita and Anna—the participation points queens—typically allow a couple days leeway to finish up those lingering reviews!

I am in the same place, only with too many Brazil books-and I want to read them all, but I know that is not going to happen.
