jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I was looking up a book and found this webcomic, also by the book author. I am not a math geek, so there are things I don't get, but there are a lot of things that had me rolling.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I looked at about 20. I didn't get half of them. I'm going home and read my book now... Have a nice, long weekend!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19202 comments I love XKCD!! I have quite a few of his t-shirts.

Make sure you always hover over the comic after you finish it with your mouse, as a pop up will come up with either another joke, or an explanation, or just a random fact. The popups are usually better than the real thing.

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments I was quite distracted by one called Labyrinth Footnote. LOL!

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments I have to force myself to stop looking at more of them. But maybe I should go back and hover...ok, but only for 5 minutes (hahahahahaha).

Roz | 4524 comments I don't know where to put this, but I was wondering if anyone has been using Kindle Unlimited. I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth my while to spend the $9.99/month. I figure if I read books that would total at least $10/month it would work out. Anyone subscribe?

Im not to eager to treat such bargains from Amazon/Kindle. For two months I have suscribe a deal with them, that supposely would allow me to see unlimited movies for a year long, and tourn out I cannot because I have none adress in the States. They should have tell me that before... or better post it in the offer itself

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments I haven't bothered with Kindle Unlimited. I got as far as "only available in US", and looked no further.

message 9: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4524 comments If it had been available in Canada (or outside the US) would you have considered it?

message 10: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I do not subscribe to Kindle Unlimited. It is only actually "unlimited" for a select list of books, a list that does not include a lot of books I read. It may be a good deal for people who read a lot and are not fussy about what they read.

I rather doubt it. The only difference between it and my library is that there are no deadlines. And I pay less than $9.99/year.

Like Casceil says. I would depend on the list of books avaiable by the fee

Read this thread about it. You'll have to click on the imgur links to get the conversation with Amazon, but it was another reason for me to stay the hell away.

Lucy Furr (lucyfurr) | 775 comments I currently subscribe to Kindle Unlimited, but this will be my last month as I finally got around to reinstating my library account so I could check out ebooks. I had no problems making KU worth it for me as I like reading random stuff, but if you are looking for big name books you won't find much to read, though there is some.

The big reason I'm canceling is simply because now that I can access all the library ebooks they'll probably take up most of my reading time.

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Kindle Unlimited is now available in the UK too, but I won't be using it either. I've found in the UK, libraries have recently really started to get into the ebook thing, specially since 'Read an eBook Day' on 18th September, and are making more and more books available to borrow as ebooks.

Janice (jamasc) | 59847 comments I just had a bit of a go-around with Audible this morning. I used to be able to see the whispersync prices on the audible book page, but they've stopped doing that. One person told me it was a long time ago, but I'm sure I was seeing prices recently.

So I initiated a chat with customer service. He kept talking about Amazon.com and Amazon.ca, and avoiding my question. I finally said, "Forget Amazon. I used to be able to see the prices on audible and now I don't." He said that they stopped doing that when Audible was purchased by Amazon. I know that is not true. He started lecturing me about what whispersync is, how it works, what the relationship between Audible and Amazon is. He was kind of condescending. When I told him that I was fully aware of the relationship and how whispersync worked, he asked, "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I replied, "Apparently not!" and disconnected the chat.

So, if I want to determine the combined Kindle/Audible whispersync price, I have to go to Amazon.com. It will tell me what the audiobook price will be in the combo, but it won't tell me the Kindle price because I'm Canadian (gasp!). So then I have to go to Amazon.ca to get the kindle price. Amazon.ca doesn't even address whispersync, as if it didn't exist. If I determine that the combined whispersync price is less than a credit and want to buy it, I have to buy the kindle on Amazon.ca and then either go to Audible or back to Amazon.com to get the audiobook.

What a convoluted way of doing business. All three sites should have the same information and links to where you have to go to complete the transactions.
