Theme

The theme of The Outsiders is to stick up for your family/friends. We know this is the theme because the boys in the Greasers thought of each other as family, and there was nothing they wouldn’t do for one another. For example, when Johnny and Ponyboy needed to get out of town quickly, Dally gave them money, a weapon, and a place to hide. He also checked up on the boys when he felt it was safe.
