A decent follow up to the Railhead beginning of the trilogy - continuing some of the themes, drawing out the diversity of this universe, and further exploring some of the posthuman elements. The world-building and characterization is interesting, even if the story doesn't give enough scope for the discussions (but it is YA, so perhaps not intended to have the depth of other books in the genre). Less cyberpunk dynamic here, which is missed, and the class distinction are downplayed as the story focuses on a plot-driven story which seems a bit rushed compared to the first one (or more predictable, perhaps). Still looking forward to the end o the trilogy, so that is something.
