Cheri (jovali2) | 10 comments What a surprise - I had already read at least one book set in each of these countries except for Ethiopia. Now I will have a chance to explore them in a little more depth.

These are my 5 countries, with possibilities for each:

Changes: A Love Story
The Hundred Wells of Salaga
Children of the Street

Cutting for Stone
The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears

Where the Road Ends: A Home in the Brazilian Rainforest
The Yanomamö
State of Wonder

Mexico - done
What the Moon Saw - finished reading April 16
The Old Gringo
Frida Kahlo And Diego Rivera

The Book of Collateral Damage

What the Moon Saw by Laura Resau

This turned out to be an excellent book for this challenge because it showed the culture of the indigenous Mixtecans in Oaxaca.I hadn't realized this was a young adult book until I started reading it, but I think my 11-yr-old self would have enjoyed it. It flirted too much with magic and spirits for my adult self to be satisfied, but I did like watching Clara become open to understanding the world, her family, and herself in deeper ways.
