So Book, you get your girl tomorrow or the day after? Are you going to pick her up or is she being delivered?

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments Thursday around noon. So less than 36 hours. It's after midnight for me already.

Pick her up in a town a few hours away. The breeder herself is like 6 hours away so she is meeting us about halfway since she is in the area for Thanksgiving.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments I still have a ton to do. I got a lot of the boxes I need to move out of her room. The rest of the house is now a disaster zone but we'll have time to fix it later.

I still need to finish the room and buy and set up her playpen. I'm getting her this one - https://www.petsmart.ca/dog/crates-ga...

Then I have to find some newspapers. My plan is to have newspaper on top and potty pads underneath. Then slowly remove the newspaper till she is just using potty pads.

I also think I have to buy a new crate. The one I have is too big for her to sleep in. That or a bed. Haven't decided. We at least have a crate.

We also need to vacuum to make sure there's nothing small she might eat.

Soooooooooooooooooooo much to do. lol. :P

Well that works out nicely then :)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments It does. We had to negotiate a bit around her and my mom's schedule and this worked well. Can't meet the parents then though but oh well. :)

There is always much to do. We never did the whole puppy dad training for more than a couple days. We broke ours quick on how to go outside. The only time we needed them is when we weren't home really.

Depending if she is going to be allowed on bed/couch/chairs a soft doggie bed would be good so she can lay near you. :)

message 210: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments Puppy pads are good for me as I have agoraphobia so my ability to go outside is spotty. I can go out with my mom but she works 12 hours shifts a couple of times a week so pads are a good option.

We don't really have a lot of furniture so they're isn't a lot she could go on but I'm hoping she can eventually sleep in my bed with me. I have a mattress in her room already that's left over from my grandpa and I'm going to sleep in there with her at first. :)

Jamie | 12271 comments I made my dog mad today. I went through his toy bin and tossed out his overly destroyed stuffies. Now I owe him some more. He was especially mad I tossed his gorilla.

message 212: by Anna 'Bookbuyer' (new)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments I just can't wait to hold her and put her in cute outfits! I'm going to either record the entire trip/exchange tomorrow myself or get my mom to. Depending on what each of us is doing. I want to whole thing to be permanently recorded!

She is getting her own room?! Wow! Lucky in a way but I think she is going to hate it when she is eventually parted from you.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments Awww. You owe him a new gorilla!

I find stuffies with no squeaker hard to find. 99% of them are squeakers! I found one that was less squeaky at least and will be a good toy to share when she can play with other dogs. I also got her a kong puppy thing and a (I can't remember the third! O.o)

I buy just regular stuffed animals at thrift stores. Great buys for under $1. And no squeakers. Much as dogs love them sometimes we need the quiet lol.

Yeah. We have a three bedroom 1 1/2 bath two story house. My brother lives in the basement, my mom in the master and me in the smallest so she has the one with the door to the backyard.

She will probably never be separated from me. We just had such a short time to make the house ready we only focused on her room first. She will have some rooms she can't go in but I'll need to puppy proof the ones she is allowed in. And of course I want her to sleep with me.

Also she will be sharing that room with my mom for now during the day cause that's where my mom relaxes and watches tv so even if I'm not (like if I'm going to the bathroom, or showering, or having a bath.) in there my mom will be.

Oooh good idea. I guess if it's safe for a baby it's safe for a dog since both like to mouth their toys! Plus she's a small breed so baby toys are about the right size!

I remembered the third toy! It's a teething ring. You can put it in the freezer and freeze it and it helps with teething!

Yep! Also freeze carrot sticks. Healthy snack for teething for dogs :)

Baby carrots can be fine for a puppy. Ours ate both but he is a large breed too so the smaller might be better even.

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments Good to know! I'll ask the vet what other healthy snacks she can have. The breeder right now is giving her a specific human snack as it's the only one that doesn't upset their sensitive tummies and also using their food as treats. :)

message 225: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 12271 comments I get to clean up the saw dust tomorrow and since everything. Then it’s just sealing and caulking everything and some touch pain on the walls since the backsplash is a bit lower. Then it’s back to the slow paced staining of the cabinets over time.

message 226: by Jamie (new)

Jamie | 12271 comments I love how it’s all looking though!

Jamie | 12271 comments It might take a few weeks but sure. I’ll share once we get at least the lower cabinets done. I think the uppers might have to wait until after summer.

Jamie | 12271 comments BTW here is a link to my manga SS. It is not quite complete. I still have to add titles for s-z but about 80% of what I have is here. So if you ever want to br any (especially the ones in yellow as I have the entire series) let me know and we'll see what we can do. :)

Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) | 22764 comments I still need to finish Fruits Basket

I think I own Fushigi Yuugi?

None of the others immediately jump out at me. :)

I don't know when I can read this though. I'm currently 'reading' vampire knight. I have like 10 volumes left.
