the basilisk's tooth in hp2 wasn't supposed to destroy harry's hocruxe?

Interesting thought. Maybe it was in the process of destroying it and Fawkes healed Harry as well as the piece of Voldemort inside him. ???

I think the idea was that if harry died, the horcrux that lived in him would die also.

Harry didn't die though, so the horcrux lived.
