SOLVED. Science Fiction Weird shaped alien tries to take over the world

A man gets 'infected' by an alien that tells him to do stuff to take over the world. there is a lot of adult content in the book. I am not sure what shape the alien was, but I want to say star shaped, or something like that. I also believe it was blue. I read this book around 2008-2011. It is part of a series that I believe the final book was coming out around that time or had just come out. I think the author's name starts with S, but I am not sure.
