Jace takes measures to prevent Clary from making the trip to Idris. Why was he so determined to stop her?

He probably thought they'd use her and take advantage of her power.

I couldn’t figure out why he took such extreme measures to keep her out. It was silly.

[~ Giulia ~]

I agree. Silly and completely useless. There's no way Clary'd have accepted to be left behind without a good reason. Okay, knowing Clary, she wouldn't have accepted it even with a good reason, but he could've at least tried explaining himself.

It would have eliminated about 75 pages of the book, too.

[Melissa]

I think one reason Jace didn't want her to go is because she is very emotionally motivated and doesn't think before she acts. Jace doesn't want her to do something stupid.

[Jonetta]

I thought that, too, Melissa, but his efforts to stop her were even worse.
