Walt Odets (goodreadscomwalt_odets) | 11 comments Andrew Holleran is the author of some wonderful novels about gay men, including "Dancer from the Dance" (1977), "Nights in Aruba" (1983) and others, most of of which I've read over the years and very much appreciated. I still read his articles in "The Gay and Lesbian Review." When my current publisher sent him a bound galley proof of my new book, he responded with the following note, for which I thank him:

"I couldn't put it down. 'Out of the Shadows' is several books -- a snapshot of three generations of gay men and the effect AIDS has had on them, an argument for the gay sensibility in a time of assimilation, and a memoir. But most of all it's stories, fascinating stories gleaned from the gay men who came to Odets for talk therapy. They make it both riveting and moving. A gay man could read this book as if his life depended on it -- and perhaps it does.”

Bill, thank you, I'm glad. The book is due out on June 4, but it can be pre-ordered on any of the online booksellers, including Amazon, Barnes & Nobel, etc. You can see a bit more about the book and how to order it on the FSG site:
