Its a novel about a guy obsessed with hiding his identity. Its at least 30 years old book I read it in mid '90.

From the plot I recall he created fake uniform and left it outside for months to look worn out, also there is a scene at some ski resorts involving jumping from the ski path directly to the ski lodge terrace. Please help!
