Around 2 years ago I read a book I believe was part of a series, although I can't be sure.
it is about a woman who might have worked as a lawyer, one day she sees a monster/alien attack and she somehow kills it. she then learns that human-looking aliens live on earth and helps protect it from attacks.
can't remember much else, but i remember it to be very humorous.
