Alexandra | 7 comments Hello! I am looking for a beta reader(s) to swap manuscripts with. I have some experience as a critique partner.
I have a 79K NA* Paranormal Fantasy. Now, please don't run, but yes, it is a vampire story! This story was in the works for a couple of years before the big vampire craze and I didn't dare send it out as I knew agents would run for the hills rather than read it! But lately there's been a few opening up to vampires again so I figure I might as well polish it up. I promise there is no sparkly-teenage-insta-love, and I feel it is a unique take on the genre, mixing vampires with Florida myth.
I have included my query below!

Rumors of a family curse, a century old cold case, and the vampire who will kill to keep the past from repeating.

In 1908, Vayra received a mysterious note. By the end of the night, Emmett, the human she loved, was murdered. When she receives the same note a century later, she realizes the killer, an undead wraith, is back. And now it’s going after Emmett’s great-grandson.

Darren was raised on stories of the William’s Witch that haunts his family. He has always known that things exist in the dark, that’s why he’s a professional ghost hunter in his spare time. But when a beautiful, and terrifying, vampire appears and saves him from a murderous wraith, he’s thrust into a supernatural world he could have never imagined. As the mystery of his great-grandfather’s murder comes to light, Darren must dig into the past to learn the truth of who really killed Emmett; the wraith, or the vampire who wants to keep the past a secret at all costs.

Vayra refuses to let the wraith win again, and Darren just wants to know how he’s involved (and survive the week). The two must try to trust each other if they’re to defeat the wraith. But when the wraith’s true identity is revealed, the lines between truth and deceit blur. Trusting the wrong person could end in death. Or a fate far worse.

WHEN NIGHT FALLS is complete at 79,000 and features an all-new take on vampires set against the rich myth, and history of Florida. Might appeal to fans of Ransom Riggs.

Let me know if you are interested in swapping, you can also contact me at CelticStar9288@aol.com. Let's swap some pages and see if we are a match!

I am happy to swap for anything fantasy, but I am not the best match for middle grade, sci fi, or romance, (seriously, I'm like that pre-teen boy in the room who makes gagging noises when people kiss...)
Hope to hear from you! -Alexandra

*NA only due to the age of human protagonists, not because of any 'mature' content. Just a bit of swearing :)

Hello Alexandra! Would you be interested in swapping works with me? My story is an Urban Fantasy novel at around 67k words. Here is the blurb.

It has been centuries since the Magi have last been seen. In those years the world has changed greatly, and with it, the memory of the Magi faded.

But the Magi live on.

They have learned to conceal themselves from the prying eyes of humans. They have learned to walk among them without ever being discovered. In some cases, some Magi don’t even know that they are Magi.

Tyler Metal is one of these cases.

Tyler is like many other people. Directionless. Lost. Looking for some kind of purpose at the great crossroads of life. But like so many others, he is left clueless.

That is, until, he encounters a person that gives him exactly what he wants. A purpose within the vast, chaotic sea of life. But when disaster strikes, he must flee if he wants a chance at survival.

Yet unbeknownst to him and everyone else, there is a great threat looming over the world.

If you would be interested you can just message me on here or email me at Jakeagronow@gmail.com

I hope you're having a great day!

-Jake
