Started it and need some time to get into the setting again, even though book 1 wasn't that long ago. That's the disadvantage of my horrible memory. Most of the time I only remember the feelings of a book, but not the content.
Started it yesterday and was surprised I could pick up the story where it was left off. Thompson has a good way of subtly summarizing or re-introducing the characters as we follow them. I’m finding the story fascinating, even though as with the first one, the plot seems to be all over the place and I’m not sure what’s going on XD But the description of Rosewater the city and the life with the aliens is fascinating and realistic, it almost has a life on its own parallel to the story. It kind of is a character in itself.
Just started today. I'm up to Ch 2. So far I'm still struggling a little to remember what happened in book one, but I agree with Dawn that the author is doing a good job of putting in reminders about what has happened already. Gabi, totally with you about Ch 2!
Read the prologue and first chapter of Insurrection last night and I’m very happy to be back in this amazing world the author has created. There’s something about the writing that immediately sucks me in and I’m drawn into the story without worrying about what could be confusing specific details.
I’m laaaate, I’m sorry! My schedule has been a bit nutty but I should be able to start tonight or tomorrow
I just started also! It's been a year since I read the first one, and I wish I had Cliff notes for the first book. I remember the broad strokes, but not the details and minor characters. Fun so far, though!
Next one up for me. I loved Rosewood (read it within last 2 months) so really looking forward to 2nd in the series!
Very glad to be reading this. Thompson’s writing is fluid, engaging, and sharp, and the world he’s created continues to fascinate. Just finished chapter 8.
Fascinating indeed ^^ I was pleasantly surprised. The first one to me felt somewhat chaotic, and in comparison this was much more focused, which gave room for the tension to reign; made it a lot more tangible, and indeed engaging.
Chapter 10! (view spoiler) I agree with others here and in other comments who say that this feels tighter and more focused than the first novel, which I also very much enjoyed.
Up to Chapter 25 already. I’m just gulping this down. Enjoying the backstory on Wormwood and some of our human friends from the first book.

Just checking in to see who might be joining for the Nov 17 BR for Rosewater Redemption. I got a notification today that my library copy is ready for pick up, but I probably won’t start it until next week. Need to finish my current read first.
I just started today! I've only read the first couple pages of the intro chapter, but it's already really intriguing. I like the way the story is introduced, and I'm excited for the new POV character.
