I liked the way this story balanced the humor with the serious consequences of partition. I think this is the last book in the series at the moment.

The Vish Puri mysteries #3.
A Puri nephew has just joined the premier cricket team and the whole family goes to the league banquet. The Pakistani star’s father is poisoned by the delicious, deadly butter chicken. Vish is called upon by a British colleague to investigate not just the death, but a large criminal cricket game-fixing and gambling ring. The extended team is called in for this complicated case. Puri’s mother is also interested in the murder and begins investigating on her own, maddening the professional detective of the family. For comic relief from the dramatic investigation and dark memories of Partition there is also a search for a mustache thief and weekly weight check-in with Rumpi.
It’s been a while since I started this series and it is quite fun. It has the amusing parts of cozy mysteries, food and family, but the criminal investigations are fairly exciting.
