Still reading Spinning Silver, which I am loving so far. I should be done with that in the new few days.
Next up is probably Siege and Storm, which just came up on the library hold list.
Hello All,
I'm so excited that Sheri is reading The Essex Serpent. I read it last year and loved it.
Last week I finished Lightbringers and Rainmakers. It was really enjoyable and what I've come anticipate from books set in this world. I'm currently about 40% through The Shadow of What Was Lost and seriously thinking about abandoning it. I'm going to be harsh here: IMO, this seems like a poorly written mashup The Wheel of Time and Lord of the Rings. And by "mashup" I mean "liberally adapted/possibly plagiarized" and by poorly written I mean "shoddy world building and foreshadowing so obvious that I've yet to be surprised by any of the "big" reveals." So, yeah, not that great. I'm terrible at actually DNF books, though, so I may just tough it out.
I'm excited for the next book club read--I think all the potential choices are great. If fact, even though I suggested a book, I was so intrigued by another suggestion that I didn't actually vote for the one I suggested.

Sorry I've been bad about keeping the updates going on time! It's been a really busy month, both at work and in general, harder to find time to sit down.
Here's an update thread for the week, I'll try to get another up on Thursday or Friday for this week properly.
Last week I read:
Love and Other Consolation Prizes - popsugar book with love in the title. I loved this a lot, it was such a lovely story and I enjoyed the writing.
I think I already said I finished Pachinko? I've lost track!
I'm currently reading The Essex Serpent, enjoying it so far. It'll be my book with an astrological term in the title, as well as my ATY book involving a Chinese Zodiac animal. I'll fill in the rest of the gaps on this week's check in.
I'll also come up with a question by then.
I also posted a poll to pick the new book for book club, don't forget to vote!
Happy reading!
